What is happening?

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(New Pit Lane, Bitton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of New Pit Lane which extends from a point 150m north west of Golden Valley Lane north westwards for 450m.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with cabling works.

The order became operative from 2 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration, between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Alternative route: Beach Hill, Beach Lane, Golden Valley Lane and vice versa

(High Street, Marshfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of High Street which extends from George Lane to St Martins Lane.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works.

The order became operative from 2 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 days duration.

Alternative route: High Street, Hay Street, Tormarton Road, A420, George Lane and vice versa

(Trench Lane, Winterbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Trench Lane which extends from Old Gloucester Road north westwards for 850m.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon water main renovation works on or adjacent to the highway.

The order became operative from 2 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 weeks duration.

(Eggshill Lane, Yate) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians)
(Temporary Suspension of One Way Traffic) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has:- 

a) closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice; and b) suspended, temporarily, when the signs are covered, the one way traffic working, to any vehicle proceeding in the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new gas service works on or adjacent to the highway.

The order became operative from 2 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration.

(Rockside Avenue, Downend) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Rockside Avenue which extends from a point 60m south east of Bridgeleap Road to Rockside Gardens.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon lead replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 4 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months.

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration.

Alternative route: Bridgeleap Road, Leap Valley Crescent and vice versa

(Hanham Road, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Hanham Road which extends from Douglas Road south westwards for 100m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with new water services connection works.

The order will be operative from 21 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration.

Alternative route: A420 High Street, Hill Street, Deanery Road, A4174, A4174 Marsham Way, A431 Stonehill, A431 High Street, Chapel Road, B4046 Lower Hanham Road and vice versa

(Midland Road, Staple Hill) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, the entire length of Midland Road. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with underground cabling works. The order will be operative from 23 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months.

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 weeks duration.

Alternative route: Acacia Road, High Street, Soundwell Road and vice versa.

(Ryecroft Road, Frampton Cotterell) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Ryecroft Road which extends from Gladstone Road south eastwards for 78m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon telecoms works on or adjacent to the highway.

The order will be operative from 25 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration.

Alternative route: Ryecroft Road (parts unaffected), Woodend Road, South View and vice versa.

(Withymead Road, Marshfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Withymead Road which extends from a point 280m south west of Chippenham Road westwards for 50m.

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new pole installation and cabling works on or adjacent to the highway.

The order will be operative from 26 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 days duration.

No alternative route available: Cul-de-sac.

(Churchend Lane, Charfield) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Churchend Lane which extends from a point 200m south east of Wotton Road south eastwards for 150m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with cabling works. The order will be operative from 23 September 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months.

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between the hours of 9:30am to 3:30pm.

Alternative route: Churchend Lane, B4059, B4058 and vice versa.

(Various Roads, Stoke Gifford) (20 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that on 21 August 2024 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in lengths of Bush Avenue, Gipsy Patch Lane and Smithcourt Drive, Stoke Gifford.

The order will come into operation on 2 September 2024 and a copy thereof together with a map and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at Patchway One Stop Shop,

The Patchway Hub, Rodway Road, Patchway during normal opening hours.

(Bath Road, Wick) (30 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that on 21 August 2024 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 84(1) and (2) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to: a) prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour in lengths of Bath Road, Wick; and b) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads at Wick) (40 mph Speed Limit) (30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2006 in so far as it relates to Bath Road, in favour of a) above.

The order will come into operation on 29 August 2024 and a copy thereof together with a map, copies of any orders to be varied/revoked and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at Kingswood One Stop Shop, Kingswood Civic Centre, Kingswood during normal opening hours.

Various Roads, Downend – Traffic Orders

Details of the proposed changes

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make the following orders under provisions contained in the Road Traffic Act 1984 as amended.

1. Ref. L3/STOP/PT.6882 – (Various Roads, Downend – Phase 1) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 202(-) – under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the said Act the effect of which will be to: a) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time (double yellow lines) in lengths of Badminton Road, Buckingham Gardens, Buckingham Place, Carpenters Shop Lane, Chestnut Road, Christchurch Avenue, Christchurch Lane, Clarence Road, Cleeve Hill Extension, Cleeve Road, Coronation Road (Downend), Croomes Hill, Dial Lane, Downend Park Road, Downend Road (Downend), Edmund Close, Grace Road, Hill House Road, Longden Road, North Street, North Street Layby – Layby in front of Numbers 114 to 124 North Street, Overndale Road, Overnhill Court, Overnhill Road, Park Road, Staple Hill, Peache Court, Peache Road, Salisbury Gardens, Salisbury Road, Shrubbery Road, Westerleigh Road, West Park Road and Woodlands Rise, Downend;

 b) prohibit vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive) in lengths of Buckingham Place, Downend Road (Downend), Overndale Road and Westerleigh Road, Downend; c) restrict vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive), 30 minutes with no return within 1 hour in lengths of Badminton Road, North Street and North Street Layby – Layby in front of Numbers 114 to 124 North Street, Downend; d) restrict vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive), one hour with no return within 2 hours in lengths of Buckingham Place and North Street, Downend; 

e) vary further the South Gloucestershire Council (The Chase Area – South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to the lengths of road specified in item a) to item d) above, the provisions of which will be brought forward into the new order; f) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (The Chase Area – South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to Clarence Road, Cleeve Hill Extension, Cleeve Road, Coronation Road, Downend Park Road, Peache Court, Shrubbery Road and West Park Road, Downend, the provisions of which will be brought forward unchanged into the new order; and g) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Grace Road and Downend Road – Red Bus Nursery and Pre-School area) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2019.

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge. N.B. It is likely only part of the roads listed are affected by the changes, and not the full length of each road.

2. Ref. L3/STOP/PT.7876 – (Christ Church C of E Infant School Area, Downend – Protection of School Entrances) (Prohibition of Stopping) Order 202(-) – under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(1) and 4(2) of the said Act the effect of which will be to protect areas marked with school entrance markings in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 in lengths of Christchurch Avenue and Church View, Downend in the vicinity of Christ Church (Church of England) Infant School by prohibiting any person stopping between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Friday, as shown on traffic signs placed at that location. Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of building or demolition works; removal or obstruction to traffic; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties and fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes.

3. Ref. L3/STOP/PT.7868 – (Badminton Road, Downend) (Designated Disabled Persons’ Parking Place) Order 202(-) – under sections 32 and 35 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the said Act the effect of which will be to provide designated disabled persons’ parking places at locations in Badminton Road, Downend.

Kingswood – Traffic Orders

Details of the proposed changes

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make the following orders under provisions contained in the Road Traffic Act 1984 as amended.

1. Ref. L3/STOP/PT.7973 – (Various Roads, Woodstock Ward, South Gloucestershire) (Residents’ Parking Places) (Disabled Persons’ Parking Places) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Variation No.3) Order 202(-) – under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 46A, 49 and 51 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the said Act the effect of which will be to: a) add lengths of no waiting at any time restrictions in Hollow Road and Orchard Road, Kingswood; b) reduce lengths of no waiting Mon-Fri (inclusive) 8am - 5pm, 1 hour no return within 2 hours in Orchard Road, Kingswood; and c) vary further the (Various Roads, Woodstock Ward, South Gloucestershire) (Residents’ Parking Places) (Disabled Persons’ Parking Places) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 2019 in favour of the provisions of item a) and b) above.
