City Of Bristol - Prohibited Movements, Prohibitions And Restrictions Of Waiting, Parking Places
What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL
WELLS ROAD (A37) AREA, BRISLINGTON WEST, KNOWLE, HENGROVE & WHITCHURCH PARK, STOCKWOOD AND WINDMILL HILL WARDS, RESERVED BUS LANES, PROHIBITED MOVEMENTS, PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS OF WAITING, PARKING PLACES – TRAFFIC ORDERS
The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE it proposes to make the following traffic orders:-
A. CAE/RGW/P-1301A – the City Council of Bristol (Wells Road (A37), Stockwood and Hengrove & Whitchurch Park Wards, City of Bristol) (Reserved Bus Lane) Order 202-, the effect of which would be to introduce bus lanes in both directions in Wells Road (A37) between Whitecross Avenue and West Town Lane for use by buses, pedal cycles, public service vehicles, solo motorcycles and taxis. The bus lanes would operate between 7am - 7pm from Monday to Friday.
B. CAE/RGW/P-1301B – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads, Wells Road (A37) Area, Knowle, Stockwood and Hengrove & Whitchurch Wards, City of Bristol) (Prohibited Manoeuvres) (One Way Traffic) Order 202-, the effect of which would be:-
1. to introduce prohibition of driving on Bellevue Road at its junction with Wells Road;
2. to introduce a prohibition of right turn from the southbound carriageway of Wells Road (A37) into Hengrove Lane;
3. to introduce a prohibition of right turn except for buses and pedal cycles from the northbound carriageway of Wells Road (A37) into West Town Lane; and
4. to retain the prohibitions of U-turns in Wells Road (A37) northbound and southbound carriageways at its junction with Hengrove Lane/West Town Lane;
5. to retain the prescribed left turn and the one way traffic working in Bath Road (slip road to Wells Road);
6. to remove the prohibition of entry in Cambridge Street, from west of Oxford Street to east of Oxford Street; and
7. to remove prohibition of right turns in Bellevue Road (into Wells Road) and Wells Road (into Bellevue Road).
C. CAE/RGW/P-1301C – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads, West Town Lane Area, Brislington West and Stockwood Wards, City of Bristol) (Prohibition of Waiting) (Prohibition of Stopping) Order 202-, the effect of which would be:-
1. to introduce prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Beechwood Close, Durweston Walk, Fontwell Court, Hazelbury Road, Imperial Road, Linnet Way and Manston Close; and
2. to revise prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Longreach Grove, Sturminster Road, West Town Lane and West Town Park.
D. CAE/RGW/P-1301D – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads, Victoria Park Area, Windmill Hill Ward, City of Bristol) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Car Club Parking Places) Order 202-, the effect of which would be:-
1. to revise prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Bellevue Road, Cambridge Street and Wells Road (A37);
2. to revise restriction of loading/unloading arrangements for vehicles in Wells Road (A37); and
3. to formalise the revised location of the Car Club parking place in the south west side of Bellevue Road at its junction with Cambridge Street.
E. CAE/RGW/P-1301E – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads, Sturminster Road Area, Stockwood Ward, City of Bristol) (Prohibition of Waiting) (Prohibition of Stopping) (Disabled Persons’ Parking Places) Order 202-, the effect of which would be:-
1. to introduce prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Bagnell Road, Cornish Road, Hollway Close, Lacey Road, Ladman Grove, Ladman Road, Meardon Road, Pynne Road and Stockwood Lane;
2. to revise prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Craydon Road, Dutton Road, Gillebank Close, Hollway Road, Hooper Road, Materman Road, Selden Road, Stockwood Road and Sturminster Road;
3. to remove prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Hencliffe Road and Longreach Grove; and
4. to introduce a disabled persons’ parking place in Hollway Road.
F. CAE/RGW/P-1301F – the City Council of Bristol (A37 Wells Road Area, Knowle and Hengrove & Whitchurch Park Wards, City of Bristol) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 202-, the effect of which would be:-
1. to introduce prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Acer Village, Beryl Grove, Callington Road, Clive Road, David’s Road, Imperial Road, Kinsale Road, Mowbray Road and Winter Walk;
2. to revise prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Whitecross Avenue and A37 Wells Road; and
3. to introduce restrictions of waiting, loading and unloading for vehicles in A37 Wells Road.

Further details of all the proposals are contained in the draft orders, which together with plans, a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the orders and copies of the orders to be revoked and varied may be inspected at the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday. The draft orders, plans and Statement of Reasons are also available to view on the City Council website at www.bristol.gov.uk/trafficorders.
How to object
Objections to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made, must be sent in writing to TRO Comments at the undermentioned address or by e-mail to tro.comments@bristol.gov.uk quoting the relevant reference number by 16th September 2024.
Please include your name and address and note that all representations received may be considered in public by the City Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
