Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in part 1 of the Schedule to this Notice; (b) prohibit all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from entering or proceeding in parts 2, 3 and 4 of the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing, footway slurry and/or major maintenance works which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 18 September 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.
For sub-paragraph (a) above: Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. For sub-paragraph (b) above: Pedestrian access to premises will be maintained at all times. 1. the entire length of D3129 South Road, Englefield Green. Alternative Route – A328 St Judes Road, D3128 Victoria Street and D3126 Harvest Road;
2. the entire length of D3192 Callow Hill, Virginia Water. Alternative Route – D3191 Bakeham Lane, A30 London Road and B389 Christchurch Road;
3. the entire length of D3030 Waverley Drive, Chertsey. Alternative Route – D3029 Hillcrest Avenue, D3028 Ferndale Avenue, D3027 Little Green Lane and D3028 Sandalwood Avenue (N.B. as part of Waverley Drive is a cul-de-sac, the diversion route only covers part of the closure);
4. the entire length of D3008 Barker Road, Chertsey. Alternative Route – D3008 Vincent Road, D3004 Pyrcroft Road and D3008 Lasswade Road (N.B. as part of Waverley Drive is a cul-de-sac, the diversion route only covers part of the closure).

Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024
On 5 September 2024 Surrey County Council will make the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 353 Ash from grid ref: 489116 150810 in a North Westerly direction to grid ref: 489060 150831.
The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of ten days from 09 September 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route for traffic from grid ref: 489116 150810 will be to head South East on Public Footpath 353 (Ash) for 108 Metres to Long Acre. Then follow the pavement North, then North West, then generally South to grid ref: 489060 150831.
The alternative route for traffic from grid ref: 489060 150831 will be the reverse of the route described above.
“The Public Footpath 353 (Ash) Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order” will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Public Path (Part) Extinguishment Order 2024
The above Extinguishment Order made on 13 August 2024 under section 118 of the Highways Act 1980 will, if confirmed, extinguish that section of Footpath 349 running from its junction with Footpath 600 at Grid Ref. 489075 149848 in a north easterly direction for 30m as shown on the Order Map.

Copies of the Orders may be purchased from the County Council for £4.
Any representations or objections to the Order must be sent in writing to Countryside Access quoting reference AW/3/1/54 at Surrey County Council, Whitebeam Lodge, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ or by email to rightsofway@ surreycc.gov.uk by Monday 23 September 2024. Please state the grounds on which they are made. If no representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Surrey County Council may confirm the Orders as unopposed Orders. Any representations not withdrawn will be sent with the Orders to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation.
