What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (B2165 Horns Cross/Beckley Road & A28 Northiam Road/Well House Hill, Northiam/Horns Cross/Broad Oak) (Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 40 mph:-

Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit

Horns Cross/Beckley Road & Northiam Road/Well House Hill – from Mount Pleasant to Fairfield and then from Little Danson to Ferndale.

The Order commences 27 August 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place on 27 August 2024.

The East Sussex (U6415 Horseshoe Lane, Beckley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Horseshoe Lane – from the junction with B2088 Main Street to the junction with C417 Kings Bank Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with a route for through traffic via B2088 Main Street – C417 Kings Bank Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 29 August 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 29 August 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C706 Broad Street Green, Hooe) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 No.2

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Broad Street Green – from the junction with U7108 Kiln Lane to the junction with U7110 Jarmans Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C706 Denbigh Road – B2095 Top Road – A259(T) Barnhorn Road – C706 Green Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 August 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 August 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3169 South Terrace, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

South Terrace – from the junction with U3178 Braybrooke Road to the junction with U3183 Earl Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with a route for through traffic via U3178 Braybrooke Road – A2101 Park Gates roundabout, Queens Road – U3169 South Terrace and vice versa.

The Order commences 27 August 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 August and 20 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A268 Rye Road/Main Street, Rye Foreign & Peasmarsh) (Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:-

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit

Rye Road/Main Street – from the junction with B2082 Iden Road to the junction with P6738 Orchard Way.

The Order commences 6 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 6 and 16 September 2024.

The East Sussex (U3232 Edmund Road, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Edmund Road – from the junction with U3223 Godwin Road to the junction with U3225 Githa Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3223 Godwin Road – U3214 Harold Road – U3225 Githa Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 11 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 11 and 12 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A28 Station Road, Northiam) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Station Road – from the junction with U6938 Coppards Lane to the junction with U6936 Dixter Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A28 Station Road – A268 Whitebread Lane – B2088 Main Street, Northiam Road, Rye Road – A28 Main Street, Station Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 and 12 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C18 Herrings Road, Ashburnham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Herrings Road – from the junction with C18 Ponts Green to the junction with U6118 Lakehurst Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C18 Herrings Road, South Lane – B2096 Woods Corner, Battle Road – C412 Penhurst Lane, Forge Lane, The Forge – C18 Church Road, Ponts Green and vice versa.

The Order commences 10 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 10 and 11 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3240 Old Top Road, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Old Top Road – from the junction with A259 Rye Road to the junction with U3240 Middle Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic eastbound via A259 Rye Road, Old London Road – C92 Fairlight Road – U3240 Beacon Road, Crowborough Road, Brightling Avenue, Middle Road and westbound via U3240 Middle Road – C92 Fairlight Road – A259 Old London Road, Rye Road.

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 9 and 10 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A265 High Street, Etchingham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

High Street – from the junction with C213 Church Lane to the junction with U6196 Burgh Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A265 Straight Mile, Etchingham Road, High Street, Heathfield Road, Pooks Hill, Burwash Road, Mutton Hall Hill, Cross in Hand Road – A267 Little London Road, High Street, Horam Road, Eastbourne Road, North Street, New North Street – A271 Lower Horsebridge, Upper Horsebridge, Hawkswood Road, Amberstone, New Road, Hailsham Road, Gardner Street, Windmill Hill Road, The Strait, Boreham Hill, Kitchenham Road, North Trade Road – A2100 London Road – A21(T) Johns Cross Road, Silver Hill, London Road – A265 Station Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 7 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 23:00hrs on 7 September 2024 until 04:00hrs on 9 September 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A271 Kitchenham Road/Beechdown Wood & B2204 Tellis Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield) (Temporary 40 & 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

To allow ALS Civil Engineering Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 40 and 30 mph:

A271 Kitchenham Road, Ashburnham & Catsfield From a point 200 metres west of the junction with B2204 westwards for a distance of 300 metres
A271 Beechdown Wood, Ashburnham & Catsfield From a point 200 metres east of the junction with B2204 eastwards for a distance of 240 metres
B2204 Tellis Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield From a point 150 metres south of the junction with A271 southwards for a distance of 300 metres

30 mph Speed Limit
A271 Kitchenham Road/Beechdown Wood, Ashburnham & Catsfield 200 metres either side of the junction with B2204
B2204 Tellis Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield From the junction with the A271 for a distance of 150 metres

The Order commences 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 9 and 17 September 2024.
