What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(FOOTPATH 2 READING) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL intends to make the above Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The effect of the Order is to close Footpath 2, Reading between bridges KA-001-013 - bridge 5, Berkeley Avenue and KA-002-002 - bridge 7, Rose Kiln Lane Footbridge for a distance of approximately 1 mile (1.6km). The purpose of the closure is to allow essential surface repair works due to significant erosion of the towpath. If made, the Order will come into operation from 2 September - 24 October 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will continue in force until the works are completed with a maximum duration of up to 6 months unless a direction is given under Section 15(5) of the 1984 Act. The proposed diversion route is via Elgar Road for approximately 460m joining the NCN Route 4 at Katesgrove Community Centre then continuing on the path in a southerly direction for approximately 1km until it joins Rose Kiln Lane.

(PANGBOURNE STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close that length of road Pangbourne Street, at its junction with Oxford Road. If made, the Order will come into force from 23:00hrs on 5 September - 05:00hrs on 6 September 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the closure will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow access to the existing underground structures. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(LONDON STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays and impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction from numbers 75-81 London Street and from number 93 London Street to its junction with Church Street, Reading. If made, the Order will come into force from 9-20 September 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow works to facilitate new water mains connection.

(OXFORD ROAD)

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays and impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction from numbers 75-81 London Street and from number 93 London Street to its junction with Church Street, Reading. If made, the Order will come into force from 9-20 September 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow works to facilitate new water mains connection.

(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend parking and impose a no waiting and/or loading at any time restriction outside number 287 Oxford Road (McDonald's). If made, the Order will come into force from 9-11 September 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow the completion of cabling works.

(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the loading bay and impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction outside numbers 365-373 Oxford Road. If made, the Order will come into force from 4-6 September 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate ducting works.

(FOBNEY LOCK FOOTPATH 2 READING) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The effect of the Order is to close Footpath 2 Fobney Lock, Reading (where Footpath 2 intersects with Footpath 10 and Island Road) to Southcote Lock (where Footpath 2 intersects with Footpath 8 and 15) for a distance of approximately 1.3km. The purpose of the closure is to allow essential maintenance and surface repair works along the footpath. No alternative route is available.

The Order will come into operation from 23 August - 22 September 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will continue in force until the works are completed with a maximum duration of up to 6 months unless a direction is given under Section 15(5) of the 1984 Act.

BULMERSHE ROAD (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024 Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:

Phase 1

  • Directional closure southbound on Bulmershe Road, from Wokingham Road to Crescent Road from 2 September - 26 October 2024.
  • Suspension of the parking bays on Bulmershe Road, side of 86 Crescent Road to outside 8 Oaklands, opposite 35 Crescent Road from 2 - 14 September 2024.
  • Suspension of double yellow lines from junction Crescent Road to outside 35 Bulmershe Road from 2 - 14 September 2024.
  • Introduction of a temporary no stopping waiting or loading at any time except for contractors or utility vehicles from junction of Crescent Road to outside and opposite 35 Bulmershe Road from 2 - 14 September 2024.

Phase 2 - 16 - 21 September 2024

  • Suspension of the parking bays from opposite 35 Bulmershe Road to opposite 25 Bulmershe Road
  • Suspension of double yellow lines from outside 35 Bulmershe Road to outside 25 Bulmershe Road
  • Introduction of a temporary no stopping waiting or loading at any time except for contractors or utility vehicles outside and opposite 35 Bulmershe Road to outside and opposite 25 Bulmershe Road.

Phase 3 - 23 September - 5 October 2024

  • Suspension of the parking bays from outside 21 Bulmershe Road to 5 Bulmershe Road
  • Suspension of double yellow lines from opposite 21 Bulmershe Road to opposite 5 Bulmershe Road
  • Introduction of a temporary no stopping waiting or loading at any time except for contractors or utility vehicles, outside and opposite 21 Bulmershe Road to outside and opposite 5 Bulmershe Road.

Phase 4 - 7 - 19 October 2024

  • Suspension of the parking bays from outside 1a Bulmershe Road to outside 5 Bulmershe Road
  • Suspension of double yellow lines from junction of Wokingham Road to outside and opposite 5 Bulmershe Road
  • Introduction of a temporary no stopping waiting or loading at any time except for contractors or utility vehicles outside and opposite from junction of Wokingham Road to outside and opposite 5 Bulmershe Road.
  • The Order will come into force on the dates listed above. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months or unless extended by the Secretary of State. The Order is necessary for excavation works and installation of gas mains replacement works within the carriageway. These measures will be mplemented when indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and Genera Directions 2016. A signed diversion will be implemented for the directional closure.
