M62 Motorway - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic For Railway Bridge Replacement Works
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 18-20 CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M62 Motorway, in the Borough of Rochdale and the City of Manchester, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable railway bridge replacement works to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic from the following section of the M62 Motorway:
i. the westbound carriageway, from the exit slip road at J20 to the entry slip road at J19;
ii. the eastbound carriageway, from the exit slip road at J18 to the entry slip road at J20;
iii. the eastbound carriageway, from the exit slip road at J19 to the entry slip road at J20;
iv. the westbound entry slip road at J20;
v. the westbound exit slip road at J19;
vi. the eastbound entry slip road at J18;
vii. the eastbound Birch Services exit and entry slip roads;
viii. the eastbound exit slip road at J19;
ix. the eastbound entry slip road at J19;
x. the eastbound exit slip road at J20.
Prohibitions i.-ii. and iv.-x. are expected to be in place during a continuous period, subject to traffic signs, starting at 21:00 on Friday 6 September 2024 and ending at 06:00 on Monday 9 September 2024 and restarting again at 21:00 on Friday 20 September 2024 and ending at 06:00 on Monday 23 September 2024.
Prohibitions i. and iii.-v. and ix.-x. are expected to be in place overnight between 21:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Monday 9 September 2024 and ending on Friday 20 September 2024.
However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods or between the same times on subsequent nights, until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M62 Motorway and local roads will be well signed.
The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works or traffic officer vehicles and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 5 September 2024. and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
