Dorset - Multiple Temporary Road/Footpath Closures and Traffic Restrictions.
What is happening?
DORSET COUNCIL
Temporary Closure of C33, Woodsford
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along C33, Woodsford between Watery Lane and B3390 (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1740 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 4th September 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 30th October 2024.
This Order will enable allow Spec Projects Ltd to install culverts and drainage.
An alternative vehicular route will be signed using C33, Woodsford Road, Frome Valley Road, Highgate Lane, West Link Road, B3390 and vice versa.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Victoria Square, Portland - Night Works
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 9 September 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 September 2024.
Please note the hours of working: Monday - Thursday 2000hrs until 0600hrs - Friday - 2100hrs until 0700hrs This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out essential highway maintenance works. The effect of this Order will be:
[1] To impose temporary clearway on A354 as indicated by signs on site on the approaches to and including Victoria Square
[2] To impose temporary 10mph speed limit on A354 as indicated by signs on site on the
approaches to and including Victoria Square, to facilitate convoy system
Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the Council's vehicle recovery contractor: Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bride Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 74, Weymouth
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath 74, from grid reference SY 658 767 to grid reference SY 665 760 a distance of approximately 860 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3 September 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is required due to the unstable ground below the footpath which is slumping into the sea below taking the footpath with it.

Temporary Closure of S3/6, Portland
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath S3/6, Portland from grid reference SY 6858 7290 to grid reference SY 6830 7254 a distance of approximately 475M metres and between grid reference SY 6820 7208 to grid reference SY 6797 7177 a distance of approximately 380 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3 September 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is needed for health and safety reasons due to a landslip.
