What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL (LONGWAY AVENUE, WHITCHURCH, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES AND FOOT PASSENGERS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an Order the effect of which is to close, temporarily, to vehicles and pedestrians those lengths of Longway Avenue as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice.
Exemption will be provided in the Order for vehicles and pedestrians requiring necessary access to premises situated on, adjacent to or accessible only from those closed lengths of road as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice.
The Order was required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road and becomes operative from 28th August 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months.
However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to occur in two phases between the dates specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice).

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an Order the effect of which is:
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads as specified in the Schedule to this Notice; and
2. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing weight limit in Circular Road, Druid Hill, Fountain Hill, Ladies Mile, Stoke Hill and Stoke Road so as to allow access and egress for event construction vehicles.
Exemption will be provided in the Order for authorised event vehicles and for vehicles requiring necessary access to premises situated on, adjacent to or accessible only from those closed lengths of roads as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
The Order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon the need to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles during periods of increased activity associated with events being held on The Downs. The Order becomes operative from 25th August 2024 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the need to close and restrict the roads during periods of increased activity (which are anticipated to take place between 8:00 a.m. on 25th August 2024 and 1:00 a.m. on 26th August 2024; between 8:00 a.m. on 31st August 2024 and 1:00 a.m. on 1st September 2024; between 8:00 a.m. on 1st September 2024 and 1:00 a.m. on 2nd September 2024 and on any subsequent dates when events are held).
