ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991 SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A) VARIOUS ROADS - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate highway improvement works they have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose temporary restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph II below. In addition, the alternative routes are also shown. Directly affected residents will be notified in advance of the dates and anticipated duration of each closure. However, to allow for contingencies the order will remain in force for eighteen months.
II. 1. Sloane Street - closure of entire length, between its junction with Sloane Square and Brompton Road in a Northbound Direction. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge. Also, via Pont Street, Cadogan Square, Cadogan Gate and Pavilion Road.
2. Sloane Street - closed between its junction with Brompton Road (A4) and Pont Street. Alternate routes for vehicular traffic are via Beauchamp Place and Pont Street. Also, via A4 Knightsbridge, Duke of Wellington Place, Grosvenor Crescent, Belgrave Square, Chesham Place and Pont Street.
3. Sloane Street - closed between its junction with Pont Street and Sloane Square. Alternate routes for vehicular traffic are via Pont Street, Beauchamp Place, Brompton Road (A4), Brompton Road (A308), Sydney Street, King’s Road and Sloane Square or via Pont Street, Chesham Place, Belgrave Square, Upper Belgrave Street, Eaton Square, Cliveden Place and Sloane Square.
4. Cadogan Gardens - closed* or prohibited left turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via *Cadogan Gardens, Cadogan Square and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
5. Cadogan Gate - closed* or prohibited left turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via *Cadogan Square and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
6. Pavilion Street - closed* or prohibited left turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via *Pavilion Road and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
7. Pont Street - prohibited left turn* or prohibited right turn** onto Sloane Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via *Pont Street, Chesham Place, Belgrave Square and Upper Belgrave Street, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge. **Also, via Pont Street, Walton Street and Brompton Road (A308) and Brompton Road (A4).
8. Pont Street - closed at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via Brompton Road (A4), Brompton Road (A308), Sydney Street, King’s Road and Sloane Square. Or via Chesham Place, Belgrave Square, Upper Belgrave Street, Eaton Square, Cliveden Place and Sloane Square.
9. Hans Street - closed* or prohibited left turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via *Hans Place and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
10. Hans Crescent - closed* or prohibited left turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via *Pavilion Road, Herbert Crescent, Hans Place and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Pont Street, Chesham Place, Belgrave Square and Upper Belgrave Street, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
11. Harriet Street - closed* or prohibited right turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via *Lowndes Square, Lowndes Street, Chesham Place, Belgrave Square, Upper Belgrave Street, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge. Also, via Sloane Street, Pont Street, Chesham Place, Belgrave Square, Upper Belgrave Street, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
12. Cadogan Place (north) - closed* or prohibited right turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via *Cadogan Place and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Pont Street, Chesham Place, Belgrave Square, Upper Belgrave Street, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
13. Cadogan Place (south) - closed* or prohibited right turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via *Cadogan Place and Pont Street. Also, via ** Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
14. Ellis Street - closed* or prohibited right turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via *D’Oyley Street, Cadogan Lane and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge. Also, the one-way working will be suspended to facilitate egress from Ellis Street.
15. Wilbraham Place - closed* or prohibited right turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via *D’Oyley Street, Cadogan Lane and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
16. Sloane Terrace - closed* or prohibited right turn** at its junction with Sloane Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via *D’Oyley Street, Cadogan Lane and Pont Street. **Also, via Sloane Street, Sloane Square, Eaton Square, Hobart Place, Grosvenor Place and Knightsbridge.
17. Pavilion Road - the one way working in the section of road between Cadogan Gate and Cadogan Gardens is to be reversed to allow vehicles to travel north from Cadogan Gardens.
18. Appleford Road - closed at its junction with Bosworth Road. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Bosworth Road, Hazelwood Crescent and Adair Road.
III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.
IV. The Order came into effect on Thursday 1st August 2024 and under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until such time as all the works are completed.
V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
