What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
LORD STREET, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Lord Street, Preston from its junction with Tithebarn Street to outside of 21 Lord Street.
2. Temporarily suspend the existing one-way prohibition on Lancaster Road, Preston from its junction with Earl Street to its junction with Old Vicarage.
3. Temporarily prohibit traffic from travelling in a northerly direction on Lancaster Road, Preston from its junction with Early Street to its junction with Old Vicarage.
4. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
5. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 19th August 2024 until 1800 hours on Wednesday 21st August 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
6. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
7. An alternative route for buses affected by the closure is via:-
Tithebarn Street – Old Vicarage – Lancaster Road.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out.
