Leazes Place, Temporary Road Closure Due To Water Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Leazes Place, Durham City) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council on 9/8/2024 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 42 metre length of Leazes Place, Durham City from junction with Claypath at northern side of closure in a southerly direction to the front of no. 6 & 7 Leazes Place to enable water main disconnection works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of closure, no alternative diversion will be available to vehicular traffic but access will be maintained where possible via road plates.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Tuesday 20/8/2024 and are anticipated to be completed in 5 days. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
