What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 –

SECTION 14(1) and 16A

THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (LEEDS FESTIVAL)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National

Highways Limited has made an Order on the A1(M) Motorway and M1 Motorway, in the City of Leeds, for the purpose of facilitating Leeds Festival. The Order starts at 00:01 on Wednesday  21 August 2024 and is expected to end at 6pm on Monday 26 August 2024, continuing as necessary to facilitate the event

The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, to impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the:

(i)    A1(M) northbound carriageway from 

80 metres north of the M1 Underbridge to

200 metres north of the exit slip road at Junction 44 (Bramham Crossroads),  a distance of 4100 metres;

(ii)   M1 northbound carriageway from 90 metres south of the Great North Road Overbridge to its merge with the A1(M) at Hookmoor (M1 Junction 48, A1(M) Junction 43), a distance of 1820 metres;

(iii)   A1(M) northbound exit slip road at Junction 44; and

(iv)  link road connecting the A1(M) northbound carriageway with the A64 trunk road eastbound carriageway at Bramham Crossroads (A1(M) Junction 44).

It will be necessary for traffic to use the hardshoulder adjacent to the:

(v)   A1(M) northbound carriageway from 920 metres north of its merge with the M1 northbound carriageway at Hookmoor to the exit slip road at Junction 44, a distance of 1500 metres;

(vi)  A1(M) southbound carriageway from 3200 metres south of the entry slip road at Junction 45 (Grange Moor) to the exit slip road at Junction 44, a distance of 1500 metres;

(vii)  A1(M) northbound exit slip road at Junction 44; and

(viii) A1(M) southbound exit slip road at Junction 44. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles). The Order comes into force on 20 August 2024 and will remain in force for as long as is necessary to facilitate the event.
