What is happening?

SOMERSET COUNCIL
PARISH OF CHARD Temporary Closure of Restricted Byway CH5/68

TAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992 The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of his powers under section 15(5) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has approved an extension to the above Order for a period of five months or until the works are complete, whichever is earlier, from 26th September 2024 until 26th February 2025.
The original order came into effect on 7th March 2022 due to an unsafe bridge. The Order PROHIBITS ALL TRAFFIC from proceeding along Restricted Byway CH5/68 from its junction with the cycle path along its length of 200 metres to the junction of public footpath CH31/10 as there is a danger to the public due to a sinkhole.
