What is happening?

TEMPORARY PARKING & TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR BENNETTS ROAD SOUTH, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on Bennetts Road South.

The Order would come into effect from 09 August 2024 It is required to enable Section 278 works to take place safely.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by 16 August 2024.

Exemptions will be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;

(d) local vehicular access to the closed section Bennetts Road South.

The road will be closed or restricted on a number of occasions for the various durations.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS SPENCER AVENUE, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering, proceeding along Spencer Avenue between its junction with Albany Road and its junction with Dalton Road.

The Order would come into effect from 08:00 hours on Monday 19th August 2024 and is required to allow Severn Trent Water to carry out water connection renewal works on the highway to take place safely.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by 18:00 hours on Wednesday 28th August 2024.

The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site.

Exemptions would be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works

(d) local vehicular access to Spencer Avenue

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS ALDBOURNE ROAD, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering, proceeding along Aldbourne Road commencing from its junction with Widdrington Road and continuing along the highway until the point fronting house number 107.

The Order would come into effect from 08:00 hours on Monday 19th August 2024 and is required to facilitate communication pipe works on the highway to take place safely.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by 18:00 hours on Thursday 22nd August 2024.

The specific closure times will apply as the signage indicates on site.

Exemptions would be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works

(d) local vehicular access to Aldbourne Road

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS VARIOUS ROADS, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on the lengths of road detailed in the Schedule below.

The Order would come into effect at 07.00 hours on Friday 16th August 2024 and is required to enable carriageway live labs, surface treatments and associated works to take place safely on the said roads.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by Friday 30th August 2024.

The specific closure times would apply as the signage indicates on site.

Diversion(s) for vehicular traffic would be as signed on site and access to premises would be maintained wherever possible.

THE SCHEDULE

The entire lengths of:-

Birmingham Road Allesley Village
• Siskin Drive
• Woodway Lane
• Moseley Avenue
• Elm Tree Avenue
• London Road – From Whitley Interchange to Island by Ringway.

Exemptions would be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;

(d) local vehicular access and egress to properties on the closed section of the roads

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

NOTICE OF INTENT
PROPOSED INSTALLATION OF CONTROLLED CROSSINGS BINLEY CYCLEWAY (CLIFFORD BRIDGE ROAD)

Notice is hereby given that, Coventry City Council (“the Council”), pursuant to its powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), intends to install controlled crossings on Clifford Bridge Road at the following locations.

Clifford Bridge Road – Toucan crossing, replacing the existing controlled crossing (pedestrian), outside 99/101 Clifford Bridge Road.

Clifford Bridge Road – Puffin crossing on Clifford Bridge Road outside 185/187 Clifford Bridge Road.

The works are part of the Binley Cycleway, a scheme proposed to connect the City Centre with the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire and encourage people to cycle. The works should assist to improve access and safety and be completed by the end of Winter 2024.

NOTICE OF INTENT
PROPOSED ROAD HUMPS (RAISED TABLES) – BINLEY CYCLEWAY

Notice is hereby given that Coventry City Council (“the Council”), under the Highways Act 1980, intends to install road humps (raised tables) of no more than 75mm high at the following locations:

Bridgeacre Gardens – at its entrance, at its southern junction with Clifford Bridge Road

Bridgeacre Gardens – at its entrance, at its northern junction with Clifford Bridge Road

Mill Lane – at its entrance, west of its junction with Clifford Bridge Road

The proposed traffic calming features should reduce vehicle speeds and will assist to improve road safety.

The raised tables will also allow the Binley Cycleway to continue at the same level across these side roads, rather than the cycleway and footway dropping down to road level at the junction. This further enforces the change in priority to cycles over vehicles and also provides priority for pedestrians.

PROPOSED TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS CITY CENTRE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PROPOSALS

Notice is also hereby given that, the Council, pursuant to its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), propose to make the following Traffic Regulation Orders (“the Orders”).

The Orders are proposed as part of traffic management changes to assist to keep traffic moving, reduce congestion and enhance facilities for cyclists in the city centre. The changes include the introduction of a ‘red route’.

The Orders proposed are:-

i) City of Coventry (City Centre) (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (Designation, Waiting Restrictions, Loading Restrictions, Loading Areas and Street Parking Places) Order 2024

The effect of the proposed Order is to add to, vary or amend the waiting restrictions on certain lengths of the following roads:

Access road to bus depot, Barracks Way, Bird St, Bishop St, Bond St ,Burges (The), Central 6 access road, Chapel St, Chauntry Place, Cheylesmore, Cook St, Corporation St, Cox St, Croft Rd, Cross Cheaping, Earl St, Eaton Rd, Fairfax St, Fleet St, Friars Rd, Gosford St, Greyfriars La, Greyfriars Rd, Grosvenor Rd, Grosvenor Road Link Road, Hales St, Henry St, Hill St, Hill Top, Ironmonger Row, Lamb St, Little Park St, Lower Holyhead Rd, Manor House Dr, Manor Rd, Michaelmas Rd, New Buildings, New Union St, Palmer La, Priory St, Queen Victoria Rd, Ringway Queens anticlockwise off slip, Ringway Queens clockwise on slip, Ringway St Patricks clockwise off slip, Ryley St, Salt La, Service road to the rear of City Arcade, St Patricks Rd, Sheriffs Orchard, Silver St, Spencer Rd, Spon St, Starley Rd, Tower St, Trinity St, Upper Well St, Warwick La, Warwick Rd, Warwick Row, Watch Cl, Well St, West Orchards access road, Western Link Road White St,

The details of the changes proposed by this order are contained in the Statement of Reasons and the Map Tiles all of which are available on the Council’s website (see link below).

ii) City of Coventry (Greyfriars Road) (Bus Gate and Revocation) Order 2024

The effect of the proposed order is to remove the bus gate on Warwick Road and introduce a bus gate on Greyfriars Road between its junctions with Sheriffs Orchard and Warwick Road which prohibits vehicles other than buses, pedal cycles, hackney carriages and private hire vehicles.

iii) City of Coventry (Lamb Street) (One Way) Order 2024

The effect of this order will be to retain the one way on Lamb Street but permit cyclists to travel in any direction on Lamb Street.

iv) City of Coventry (Various Roads) (One Way Traffic) (Exemption) Order 2024

The effect of the proposed order shall be to retain the existing one-way restriction on Greyfriars Lane, Salt Lane, and St Patricks Road, but permit cycles to travel in any direction on these roads.
