What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN BARLEY, BUNTINGFORD, CHIPPING, HARE STREET, GREAT HORMEAD, BRENT PELHAM, BARKWAY AND BUCKLAND) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads") and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of B1368 London Road, Barley from its junction with Church End south westwards to its junction with B1368 Cambridge Road, a distance of approximately 518m.

An alternative route will be via Church End, B1039 (Picknage Road/Royston Road/Barkway Road), A10 (Barkway Street/London Road/Ermine Street/unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass), B1038 (Baldock Road/High Street/Hare Street Road/unnamed road) and B1368 (unnamed road/Biggin Hill/ London Road/High Street/Cambridge Road) or via B1368 (Cambridge Road/High Street/London Road/Biggin Hill/unnamed road), B1038 (unnamed road/Hare Street Road/High Street/Baldock Road), A10 (Buntingford Bypass/unnamed road)/Ermine Street/London Road/Market Hill/Priory Lane), B1039 (Barkway Road/Royston Road/Picknage Road) and Church End.

2. that length of Church End, Barley from its junction with B1039 Picknage Road south westwards to its junction with B1368 London Road, a distance of approximately 431m.

An alternative route will be via B1039 (Picknage Road/Royston Road/Barkway Road), A10 (Barkway Street/London Road/Ermine Street/unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass), B1038 (Baldock Road/High Street/Hare Street Road/unnamed road) and B1368 (unnamed road/Biggin Hill/London Road/High Street/Cambridge Road/London Road) or via B1368 (London Road/Cambridge Road/High Street/ London Road/Biggin Hill/unnamed road), B1038 (unnamed road/Hare Street Road/High Street/ Baldock Road), A10 (Buntingford Bypass/unnamed road/Ermine Street/London Road/Market Hill/ Priory Lane) and B1039 (Barkway Road/Royston Road/Picknage Road).

3. that length of A10 Buntingford Bypass, Buntingford and A10 (unnamed road/Ermine Street, Chipping from its junction with the A507 Baldock Road/B1038 Baldock Road roundabout north westwards, north eastwards and northwards to its junction with C10 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 4567m.

An alternative route will be via A10 (Buntingford Bypass/unnamed road/Puckeridge Bypass/Wadesmill Bypass/unnamed road), A602 (Westmill Road/Tonwell Bypass/Ware Road/Watton at Stone Bypass/ Hooks Cross/Broadhall Way), A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, A602 Hitchin Road, B197 (Graveley Road/ High Street/Jacks Hill), A505 (Baldock Bypass/Royston Road/Baldock Road/Royston Bypass), and A10 (Melbourn Road/Priory Lane/Barkway Street/London Road) or via A10 (London Road/Market Hill/Priory Lane/Melbourn Road), A505 (Royston Bypass/Baldock Road/Royston Road/Baldock Bypass) B197 (Jacks Hill/High Street/Graveley Road), A602 Hitchin Road, A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, A602 (Broadhall Way/Hooks Cross/Watton at Stone Bypass/Ware Road/Tonwell Bypass/Westmill Road) and A10 (unnamed road/Wadesmill Bypass/Puckeridge Bypass/unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass) or via A10 (Buntingford Bypass/unnamed road/Puckeridge Bypass/Wadesmill Bypass/unnamed road), A602 (Westmill Road/Tonwell Bypass/Ware Road/Watton at Stone Bypass/Hooks Cross/Broadhall Way), A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the A1(M), A505 (Baldock Bypass/Royston Road/Baldock Road/ Royston Bypass) and A10 (Melbourn Road/Priory Lane/Barkway Street/London Road) or via A10 (London Road/Market Hill/Priory Lane/Melbourn Road), A505 (Royston Bypass/Baldock Road/Royston Road/Baldock Bypass), the A1(m), A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, A602 (Broadhall Way/Hooks Cross/ Watton at Stone Bypass/Ware Road/Tonwell Bypass/Westmill Road) and A10 (unnamed road/ Wadesmill Bypass/Puckeridge Bypass/unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass).

4. that length of B1038 (unnamed road), Hare Street/Buntingford/B1038 Conduit Lane, Great Hormead/ Brent Pelham and B1038 Pump Hill, Brent Pelham from its junction with B1368 (unnamed road) north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 7117m.

An alternative route will be via B1368 (unnamed road/Biggin Hill/London Road/High Street/Cambridge Road/London Road/High Street), B1039 (Picknage Road/Chishill Road/Barley Road/Hall Lane/ unnamed road/Royston Road/Station Road), B1383 (Mutlow Hill/London Road/Cambridge Road/ Belmont Hill) and B1038 (Wicken Road/Clatterbury Lane/High Street/Pelham Road/unnamed road).

5. that length of B1038 Hare Street Road, Buntingford and B1038 (unnamed road), Hare Street from its junction with B1038 High Street north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with B1368 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 2873m.

An alternative route will be via B1038 (High Street/Baldock Road), A10 (Buntingford Bypass/ unnamed road) and B1368 (Buntingford Road/Wickham Hill/Station Road/Green End/Hay Street/ Dassels/Dassels Hill/unnamed road).

6. that length of B1038 High Street, Buntingford from its junction with B1038 Baldock Road south eastwards to its junction with B1038 Hare Street Road, a distance of approximately 192m.

An alternative route will be via B1038 Baldock Road, A10 Buntingford Bypass, London Road and Station Road.

7. that length of B1039 Chishill Road, Barley from its junction with B1039 Picknage Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 508m.

An alternative route will be via B1039 Picknage Road, B1368 (High Street/London Road/Cambridge Road/High Street/London Road/Biggin Hill/unnamed road), B1038 (unnamed road/Conduit Lane/Pump Hill/unnamed road/Pelham Road/High Street/Clatterbury Lane/Wicken Hill/Belmont Hill/Cambridge Road/London Road/Mutlow Hill) and B1039 (Station Road/Royston Road/unnamed road/Hall Lane/ Barley Road).

8. that length of Buckland Road, Barkway/C10 (unnamed road), Buckland from its junction with B1368 High Street south westwards to its junction with A10 London Road, a distance of approximately 3061m.

An alternative route will be via B1368 High Street, Royston Road, The Joint and A10 London Road.

9. that length of Ermine Street, Buntingford from its northernmost junction with A10 Buntingford Bypass south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Woods Way, a distance of approximately 1773m.

An alternative route will be via A10 Buntingford Bypass, B1038 Baldock Road, High Street and Ermine Street.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 26 August 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN

HIGH STREET/UPPER KING STREET, ROYSTON) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street/Upper King Street, Royston from its junction with John Street north westwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 370m ("the length of Roads"), except for access. An alternative route will be via High Street.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 26 August 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.
