What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Oxford, Footpath closures – Jubilee Walk/Thames Path

  • Date of Order: 05/08/2024
  • Coming into force: 12/08/2024

This Order is being introduced because of construction of new river bank retaining walls which are anticipated to be completed on 31 October 2024. This is a 24 hour footpath closure. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily part or whole section of the footpath numbers Jubilee Walk (320/15/10 & 320/4/30) – between Folley bridge and Gasworks Bridge and Thames Path 320/15/10 – between Folley bridge and Donnington Bridge. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath. The alternative route will be signed locally. (Ref: T11405/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Oxford, A4144 & Woodstock Road Prohibition of Through Traffic

  • Coming into force: 12/08/2024

This Order is being introduced because of installation of new raised tables, improved pedestrian and cycle facilities, new pedestrian crossings and traffic island removals which is anticipated to be completed 28 February 2025. Works of the works will be undertaken throughout the 24 hours.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding or waiting in the below junctions with the Woodstock Road:

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of the road. The alternative routes for traffic will be signed locally via parallel roads.

The relevant parts of the following orders are temporarily suspended for the duration of the Works in respect of removing permitted waiting and loading and suspending of one-way streets.

  • The Oxfordshire County Council (Central Area, Oxford) (Controlled Parking Zone and Waiting Restrictions) Order 2011 (as amended)
  • The Oxfordshire County Council (Summertown) (Controlled Parking Zone and Various Restrictions) Order 2023 (as amended)
  • The Oxfordshire County Council (North Summertown) (Controlled Parking Zone and Waiting Restrictions) Order 2007 (as amended)
  • The City of Oxford (Jericho) (Parking Places and Controlled Parking Zone) Order 2000 (as amended)
  • The Oxfordshire County Council (Walton Manor, Oxford) (Parking Places and Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended) (as amended) which permits parking will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the Works.
