City Council Notices

PROPOSED TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS & ESTABLISHMENT OF CYCLE TRACK BINLEY CYCLEWAY – CLIFFORD BRIDGE ROAD

Notice is hereby given that, Coventry City Council (“the Council”), pursuant to its powers under sections 65 (1), 65(2) and 66 of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers hereby propose to introduce sections of Segregated and Unsegregated Cycle Track along Clifford Bridge Road between its junction with Brinklow Road and its roundabout junction at the access to Tesco (approx 110 m south of its junction with Dorchester |Way).

Notice is also hereby given that, the Council, pursuant to its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), propose to make the following Traffic Regulation Orders (“the Orders”).
The Orders are proposed as part of changes to facilitate and enhance the safety of users of the highway, particularly the Binley Cycleway. 
The Binley Cycleway is a scheme connecting the City Centre with University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire proposed to encourage people to cycle.

The Orders proposed are:-
i) City of Coventry (Various Roads) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2024
The effect of this order shall be to prohibit vehicles waiting at any time (double yellow lines) at the junction of Clifford Bridge Road/Portree Avenue, extend the existing prohibition of waiting on Clifford Bridge Road on the southern side of its junction with Gainford Rise, and prevent vehicles waiting on the northern side of Gainford Rise between Clifford Bridge Road and Faygate Close, and at the junction of Gainford Rise/Faygate Close
ii) City of Coventry (Clifford Bridge Road) (40mph Speed Limit) Revocation Order 2024
The effect of this order shall be to revoke the sections of 40mph speed limit on:
• Clifford Bridge Road
• Clifford Bridge Road link to A46 (approx 25m extent of 40mph)
The speed limit returning to the nation speed limit which for this type of road is 30mph

A copy of this Notice, the draft Orders, plans and Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Orders may be inspected at the Council House (reception area) Earl Street, Coventry and on the Council’s website at www.coventry.gov.uk/tro.

Any objections to the making of the Orders should be forwarded in writing to Mr R Parkes, Place Team, Legal Services, PO Box 15, Council House, Coventry CV1 5RR, or via email to ‘rob.parkes@ coventry.gov.uk’. Any objection must state the grounds on which it is made and must be forwarded by no later than 29th August 2024.
