Hambleton, Temporary Traffic Restriction & Prohibition For Gap Improvement Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (OSMOTHERLEY INTERCHANGE TO SOUTH KILVINGTON INTERCHANGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in the District of Hambleton, to enable gap improvement works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on at 8pm on Sunday 11 August 2024 for 10 weeks, or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(i) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 southbound carriageway from the southbound exit slip road at A684 Osmotherley Interchange to 1500 metres north of the Knayton overbridge, a distance of 9600 metres;

(ii) impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the A19 northbound carriageway from 500 metres north of Knayton overbridge to 760 metres south of the northbound exit slip road at Osmotherley Interchange, a distance of 7900 metres;

(iii) close all gaps in the central reservation of the A19 carriageway between Osmotherley interchange and South Kilvington Interchange;

(iv) close all laybys adjacent to the A19 northbound and southbound carriageway between Osmotherley Interchange and South Kilvington Interchange; and

(v) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A19 northbound and southbound carriageway at Thimbleby Village Junction, Over Silton Village Junction, Nether Silton Village Junction and Knayton Village Junction, Moorhouse Lane Junction, Haynes Arms Junction.

It will also be necessary to close, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 14 October for

1 week or until completed, the:

(i) A19 southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Osmotherley Interchange to the entry slip road at South Kilvington Interchange, a distance of 13400 metres;

(ii) A19 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at South Kilvington Interchange to the entry slip road at Osmotherley Interchange, a distance of 13300 metres;

(iii) A19 southbound entry and northbound exit slip roads at Osmotherley Interchange; and

(iv) A19 southbound exit and northbound entry slip roads at South Kilvington Interchange.

During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).

Access will be maintained at all times to premises and properties which are accessible from, and only from, the A19. The Order comes into force on 10 August 2024 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. The project manager for this scheme is Michael Morgan.
