What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING) (CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT NO.128) ORDER 2024.

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 5th August 2024 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into effect on 14th August 2024. The Order will:
1. introduce Red Route controls on which stopping to park, load, unload or board from a vehicle will be prohibited at any time (‘double-red lines’) in Spittlesea Road the whole length.
2. provide an area within the Red Route on Spittlesea Road where stopping to park, load, unload or board from a vehicle is prohibited at any time except for taxis in the existing taxi bay.
3. on Hitchin Road revoke and remove a length of limited waiting parking bay in operation Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm maximum stay 1 hour with No return within 1 hour and introduce in its place No Waiting at Any Time restriction.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers contained in the above Act or any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
