What is happening?
PUBLIC NOTICE
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE
NO WAITING AT ANY TIME ON FIRBANK WAY AND
CHARTMOOR ROAD, LEIGHTON BUZZARD
Reason for proposal: For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic
and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising; For facilitating the passage of traffic on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians); The waiting restrictions are intended to address indiscriminate parking and to ensure that junctions are not obstructed by parked vehicles.
Effect of the Order:
To introduce No Waiting at any time on the following length of road in Leighton Buzzard:-
1. Firbank Way, both sides, from the junction with Chartmoor Road, extending in a north-easterly direction for approximately 18 metres.
2. Chartmoor Road, north-east side, from the junction with Firbank Way, extending in a north-westerly direction for approximately 10 metres.
3. Chartmoor Road, north-east side, from the junction with Firbank Way, extending in a south-easterly direction for approximately 10 metres.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, VARIOUS PARISHES)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the following lengths of road in Central Bedfordshire.
These temporary closures are required to enable various carriageway patching, surface dressing, lining and gully works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
The Order will come into operation on 2 September 2024 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.
It is expected that the first works will take place at some point between 2 September 2024 and 28 October 2024. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The roads will be closed at all times during this period.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic on the following lengths of road:
i. Billington Road, Leighton Buzzard between Grovebury Road and the roundabout with Johnson Drive. The alternative route for this closure is via Grovebury Road, Chartmoor Road, Billington Road and vice versa.
ii. Old Road, Linslade between The Buckingham Arms and the roundabout with Station Road. The alternative route for this closure is via Station Road, Soulbury Road and vice versa.
iii. Plantation Road, Leighton Buzzard between Linslade Road and Taylors Ride. The alternative route for this closure is via Heath Road, Leighton Road, Linslade Road and vice versa.
iv. Mentmore Road, Linslade between Cedars Way and Tiddenfoot Lakes Car Park. There is no alternative route for this closure.
