What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
MARSH LANE, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Marsh Lane, Preston from 20 metres either side of the railway bridge.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 2230 hours on Monday 12th August 2024 until 0600 hours on Tuesday 13th August 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. The bus gate on Corporation Street, Preston shall be temporarily suspended for the operational hours of this closure to act as part of the diversion route.
6. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Marsh Lane – Ring Way – Corporation Street – Leighton Street and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow structure examination works to be carried out.
