What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 01 August 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) & (4). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered, (5), (6), (7), (8) & (9).

(1) CHANTRY GAP. POPPLETON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Chantry Gap, Poppleton between its junctions with Grove Gardens and Main Street (closed road) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 05 August 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Sunday, 11 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Main Street, Dikelands Lane.

(2) MALTON AVENUE. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Malton Avenue, York between its junctions with Irwin Avenue and Heworth Green (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 05 August 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 08 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Heworth Green, Dodsworth Avenue, Irwin Avenue.

(3) FOOTPATH FROM TOBY COURT TO YORK ROAD. STRENSALL

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Footpath From Toby Court To York Road, Strensall between its junctions with York Road and Toby Court (closed footpath) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 05 August 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 16 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via York Road, Melcombe Avenue, Toby Court.

(4) MAIN STREET. CHURCH LANE & CROCKEY HILL ROAD. WHELP RAKE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Main Street, Church Lane & Crockey Hill Road, Wheldrake (i) on Main Street between its junctions with Crockey Hill Road and Church Lane and (ii) on Crockey Hill Road between its junctions with Main Street and Wheldrake Lane and (Hi) on Church Lane between its junctions with Main Street and Hall Close (closed roads) during the period when highway surfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Thursday, 08 August 2024 and ending at 1500hrs on Thursday, 15 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1500hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Church Lane, Bonby Lane, Mill Hill, Wheldrake Lane.

(5) DUNDAS STREET. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Dundas Street, York between its junctions with The Stonebow and Black Horse Lane (closed road) during the period when building maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Sunday, 11 August 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Monday, 12 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access for residents will be maintained during the works period with the assistance of marshals.

(6) FOSS BANK. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Foss Bank, York between its junction with Jewbury and a location 55 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 12 August 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 23 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Layerthorpe, Eboracum Way, Heworth Green, Monkgate.

(7) FOOTPATH FROM OSMINGTON GARDENS TO TOBY COURT. STRENSALL

This Order will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Footpath From Osmington Gardens To Toby Court, Strensall between its junction with Toby Court and the projected south-western boundary of property No. 3 Toby Court (closed footpath) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 12 August 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 23 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Melcombe Avenue, Toby Court.

(8) FOREST WAY. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Forest Way, York between its junctions with Stockton Lane and Hempland Avenue (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 14 August 2024 and ending at 1700nrs on Thursday, 12 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. The works will be completed in two phases to maintain access to Forest Grove at all times. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hempland Avenue, Hempland Lane, Stockton Lane.

(9) FIELD LANE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Field Lane, York between a location 90 metres north-east of its junction with School Lane and a location 57 metres north-east of its junction with Badger Wood Walk (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Wednesday, 14 August 2024 and ending at 1500hrs on Wednesday, 28 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1630hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hull Road, University Road. The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
