What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (CASTLE STREET, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable public realm improvement works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Castle Street, Carlisle from its junction with St Mary's Gate, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 40m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 5 August 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will be required for 8 months and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
