What is happening?

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1) PARISH OF BLANCHLAND BYWAYS OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC NUMBERS 26, 30 AND 31 (TEMPORARY BYWAYS OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC CLOSURE) ORDER 2024 (EXTENSION OF ORDER)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State has agreed to extend the closure of Parish of Blanchland Byways Open to All Traffic Nos 26 30 and 31, In the County of Northumberland. The routes affected are described as follows: Blanchland Byway Open to All Traffic No 26 From the junction with Byway No 19 at the Slaley Parish boundary in a southerly direction for a distance of 2530 metres crossing Blanchland Moor to join Byway No 30 (the U8084 road) 365 metres north of Pennypie House.

Blanchland Byway Open to All Traffic No 30 From the junction with Byway No 26, 365 metres north of Pennypie House in a general southerly direction for a distance of 460 metres to a point 50 metres south-west of Pennypie House.

Blanchland Byway Open to All Traffic No 31 From the junction with Byway No 30, 50 metres west of Pennypie House in a general southerly direction for a distance of 1065 metres to a point 365 metres east of Birkside. The closure is for motor vehicles and horse drawn vehicles only. There is no alternative route available.

The Order which came into force on 5th February 2024 and which would have expired on 5th August 2024 will continue to be in force until 5th August 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The extension has been requested by Northumberland County Council in the interests of public safety by reason of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the highway. Dated this 1st day of August 2024.
