(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on the following sections of highways in Ashington in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 7th August 2024 until the 7th February 2025.
A197 Woodhorn Road from its junction with the U6506 Woodhorn Old Road heading eastwards for a distance of 80 metres.
C123 Woodhorn Crossroads to Alcan Smelter from its junction with the A197 Spine Road to Woodhorn Crossroads heading northwards for a distance of 80 metres.
U6506 Woodhorn Old Road from its junction with the A197 Woodhorn Road heading westwards for a distance of 80 metres.
A197 Spine Road to Woodhorn Crossroads from its junction with the C123 heading southwards for a distance of 90 metres.
It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 7th August 2024 until the 11th August 2024 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 7th February 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic travelling north will be via the A189, A1068, C122, C110, U6058 C123 and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic travelling south will be via the A197, B1334 A189 and vice versa.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council to carryout carriageway resurfacing works. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
