Cleadon Lane - Temporary Prohitibion of driving order
What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL (CLEADON LANE, WHITBURN – WHITBURN VILLAGE PRIMARY SCHOOL) ORDER 2024
On 31 July 2024 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 5 August 2024 will :- REVOKE No Waiting and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Cleadon Lane, south side from a point 8m east of its junction with the south east section of the turning circle to Whitburn Village Primary School for a distance of 139m in a south easterly direction and No Waiting and No Loading/Unloading Mon to Fri 8am – 9.30 am & 3pm – 4pm on Cleadon Lane from a point 8m south east of its junction with the school entrance for a distance of 139m in a south easterly direction. INTRODUCE No Waiting Mon to Fri 8am - 9.30am & 3pm – 4pm on Cleadon Lane north side from its junction with Central Ave in a westerly direction for a distance of 128m and south side from a point 44m west of its junction with Central Ave in a westerly direction for a distance of 78m and No Waiting
At Any Time on Cleadon Lane both sides from a point 22m east of its junction with Central Ave in an east/south easterly direction for a distance of 212m. The Order will also reduce the extent of the 30mph speed limit and increase the extent of the 20mph speed limit on Cleadon Lane. The 30mph speed limit will now be from a point 213m west of the extended line of the western kerb of Central Ave for a distance of 110m in a westerly direction. The 20mph speed limit will be from a point 213m west of the extended line of the western kerb of Central Ave in an easterly direction to its junction with North Guards.

affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL.Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 31 July 2024 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
