Public Path Diversion Order 2020

On 22 June 2022 an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above order. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert public Footpath 24 (part), 160, 161 (part), 162, and public Bridleway 21 (part), Weymouth as shown on the order map as follows:

From the current routes:

Footpath 162, Weymouth:

The whole length and width of public footpath No. 162, Weymouth, running from SY 68335 82547 in an east north easterly direction for 175 metres to SY 68496 82612. Width to be diverted: 2 metres.

Part of Footpath 161, Weymouth:

That length and the whole width of public footpath No. 161, Weymouth, running from SY 68498 82477 in a north easterly direction for 153 metres to SY 68614 82579, then in an east south easterly direction for 32 metres to SY 68644 82567, then in a southerly direction for 51 metres to SY 68634 82517, then in a south westerly direction for 15 metres to SY 68620 82510, then in a south south westerly direction for 24 metres to SY 68612 82491, then in a south easterly turning south westerly direction for 44 metres to SY 68613 82448, then continuing in a west north westerly direction for 127 metres re-joining Footpath 161 at SY 68488 82468. Width to be diverted: 2 metres.

That length and the whole width of public bridleway No. 21, Weymouth, running from SY 68411 82618 south of Louviers Road for 104 metres in a south westerly direction to SY 68335 82547. Footpath 160, Weymouth:

That length and the whole width of public footpath No. 160, Weymouth, running from its junction with Bridleway 21 south of Louviers Road at SY 68428 82634 in a south easterly direction for 178 metres to its junction with Footpath 24 at SY 68488 82468. Width to be diverted: 2 metres.

A length of public footpath at a width of 2 metres running from SY 68352 82566 for 77 metres in an east north easterly direction to SY 68426 82586, then in a generally northerly direction for 7 metres to SY 68424 82592 then in a generally easterly turning northerly direction for 57 metres to SY 68478 82603 and then in an east south easterly direction for 12 metres to Footpath 24 at SY 68489 82601.

A length of public footpath at a width of 2 metres running from SY 68594 82592 on Bridleway 21, in a southerly direction for 9 metres to SY 68592 82583 then in a south easterly turning southerly direction for 54 metres to SY 68600 82536.

Footpath 160, Weymouth:

A length of public footpath at a width of 2 metres running from Bridleway 21 at SY 68335 82547 in an east south easterly direction for 179 metres to Footpath 24 at SY 68488 82468.

Part of Bridleway 21, Weymouth:

A length of public bridleway at a width of 4 metres running from SY 68411 82618 in a south westerly direction for 12 metres to SY 68402 82611, then in a south westerly direction for 5 metres to SY 68399 82608, then in a south westerly direction for 51 metres to SY 68360 82574, then in a south westerly direction for 8 metres to SY 68354 82568, then in a south westerly direction for 3 metres to SY 68352 82566 then continuing in south westerly direction for 28 metres to SY 68335 82547.

Notice of the confirmation of the Order was advertised on 13 July 2022 but was not operational, by virtue of Article 2 of the Order.

On 26 June 2024, Dorset Council certified that the work necessary to bring the new sections of the paths into a fit condition for use by the public had been carried out, thereby stopping up the old sections of path and creating the new paths. The diversion is now complete and operational. Dated: 1 August 2024.

Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2024

The above Order, made on 28 June 2024, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them a Bridleway in the Parish of Portland as follows: Bridleway 114, Portland

From its junction with Park Road, south east to crest of bank, continuing south east descending to bottom of the railway cutting then in a generally south east direction rising out of the railway cutting to its junction with Footpath 24. The width varies from 2 metres at SY 69187149 continuing at 2 metres at SY 69197148, widening to 3 metres at SY 69277139, narrowing to 2 metres at SY 69347132 then meeting open ground at its junction with Footpath 24 at SY 69357131.

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Dorset Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.

Temporary Closure of Church Road, Moreton

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Church Road, Moreton between The Street, Moreton to outside Broomhill Farm (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1580 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It came into operation on 25 July 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 6 September 2024.

This Order will enable Wessex Water safe access to replace a water main and install a leakage meter complex.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using Station Road, B3390, C80, Tout Hill, A352, East Burton Road and vice versa.

The above order, made on 19 July 2024 under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert footpath 14, Lydlinch as shown on the order map as follows:

From the existing path:

The whole width of the footpath from ST 75686 12005 generally north to ST 75690 12072 and then generally north east across a paddock to its junction with Footpath 55, Sturminster Newton at the parish boundary at ST 75841 12127.

To the new path:

From ST 75686 12005 east south east across a grass field to ST 75708 12006 then north into a second field and east to ST 75734 12007 generally north and north north east to ST 75740 12030 and following the boundary of a wooded area generally north east then north, north west and north to ST 75851 12127. Width, 2.0 metres between ST 75686 12005 and ST 75708 12006 and 2.5 metres between ST 75708 12006 and its junction with Footpath 55, Sturminster Newton at the parish boundary at ST 75851 12127 except at ST 75708 12006 - pedestrian gate to BS5709:2018.

Temporary Closure of Maumbury Road/Herringston Road (Part), Dorchester

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along MAUMBURY ROAD/HERRINGSTON ROAD, DORCHESTER: Maumbury Road between its junctions with Weymouth Avenue and Herringston Road; Herringston Road at the grass triangle between Herringston Road and Maumbury Road. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 5 August 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 30 August 2024.

This Order will enable SGN, safe access to relay gas main.

An alternative route will be signed using: Weymouth Avenue - Prince of Wales Road - Culliford Road -South Court Avenue.
