What is happening?

DORSET COUNCIL

Temporary Closure of Green Pit Knapp, Catherston Leweston

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along GREEN PIT KNAPP, CATHERSTON LEWESTON between the entrance to Little Catherston Farm and a point approximately 300 metres south east. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 19 August 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 13 September 2024.

This Order will enable Wessex Water to install new water main.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using, The Street - Axminster Road - A35 - Westover Hill.

Temporary Closure of Public Bridleway W31/2, Mapperton

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Bridleway W31/2 from grid reference SY 511 997 to grid reference SY 509 998, a distance of approximately 280 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 14 August 2024 and will remain in force for 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28 December 2024.

This closure is required due to a landslip and remedial works.

On this occasion there is no suitable alternative route.
