Castle Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(CLITHEROE FOOD FESTIVAL, CLITHEROE, RIBBLE VALLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PARKING) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lancashire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic and parking on the roads set out in this order.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway:
i. Castle Street, Clitheroe, its entirety.
ii. Market Place, Clitheroe, its entirety.
iii. King Lane, Clitheroe, its entirety.
iv. King Street, Clitheroe, its entirety.
v. New Market Street, its entirety.
vi. Back King Street, Clitheroe, its entirety.
2. The prohibition in article 1 shall be operative from 0600 hours to 1800 hours on 10th August 2024.
3. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over New Market Street, Clitheroe, from 0900 hours on 8th August 2024 until 1800 hours on 10th August 2024.
Pedestrian access will always be maintained.
4. To temporarily prohibit any motor vehicle from waiting, loading/unloading at any time on the following lengths of highway:
i. Railway View Road, Clitheroe, its entirety.
ii. Waddington Road, Clitheroe (north side), from its junction of Railway View Road to the entrance to Clitheroe Cemetery.
iii. Pendle Road, Clitheroe (south side), from its junction with Hayhurst Street to its junction of Highmoor Park.
iv. Eshton Terrace, Clitheroe (south side), from its junction with Woone Lane to the railway level crossing.
v. Castle Street, Clitheroe, its entirety.
vi. Market Place, Clitheroe, its entirety.
vii. King Lane, Clitheroe, its entirety.
viii. King Street, Clitheroe, its entirety.
ix. Edisford Road, Clitheroe from a point outside number 67 Edisford Road travelling in an easterly direction to its junction with St Pauls Street on both sides of the carriageway.
5. The prohibition in article 4 shall be operative from 0900 hours on 7th August 2024, until 2359 hours on 10th August 2024.
6. Nothing in Article 1 of this order shall apply to anyone undertaking operations as part of the event.
7. Any prohibitions may be removed before its stated end time if deemed safe and appropriate by
the event holder.
Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected by the closure will be signed locally.
The Police, Fire and Ambulance Services have been informed.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to enable the holding of the Clitheroe Food Festival 2024
