ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 16A
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”), in exercise of its powers as the local traffic authority under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, has made on the 12th July 2024 the Northumberland County Council (Berwick Bridge 400) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2024 (“the TTRO”).
The Council has made the TTRO for the purposes of facilitating the holding of Berwick Bridge 400 (“the Event”) by restricting traffic on the C424 Bridge End from it’s junction with Love Lane heading in a south westerly direction for a length of 35 metres and the C424 Berwick Bridge from it’s point with Bridge End heading in a south westerly direction for a length of 300 metres (“the Road”).
The TTRO shall come into force, subject to the provisions of section 16B of the Act, between 10:00 hours on 3rd August 2024 and will remain in force until 16:00 hours on 4th August 2024.
The alternative route for traffic will be via the C424, the U111, the A1167 and vice versa in Berwick Upon Tweed and as shown by a blue dashed line on the Plan.
All restrictions on the Road will be sign-posted and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary.
Nothing in the TTRO shall apply to:
a. Any activities taking place on the Road related to the organisation and holding of the Event;
b. Anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police officer or a Duly Authorised Officer of the Council.
c. Any vehicle being used by, or for the purposes of, the emergency services;
d. Any vehicle being used by or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker (e.g. the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought onto the Road); or
e. Pedestrian access to any premises adjoining the Road.
