Rail Bridge, Temporary Road Closure Due To Bridge Brickwork Pointing Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (C37 Rail Bridge, Mordon) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council on 19/7/2024 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on 135 metre length of C37 that passes over the rail bridge between the access to Mordon Grange and the access to Nestlea, Mordon to enable rail bridge brickwork pointing works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the eastern side of the closure from C37 easterly and northerly on C38 passing Sedgefield Racecourse to A689 Sands Hall Roundabout then westerly on A689 to Bradbury and south onto C37 leading to the western side of the closure, and vice versa (via Junction 60 Bradbury Interchange roundabout onto A689 eastbound).

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 29/7/2024 and are anticipated to be completed in 2 days. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
