What is happening?

Highways

 

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

SWALE AREA

A251 Ashford Road, Faversham & Sheldwich & Lees Court Road, Sheldwich.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow gas main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on parts of A251 Ashford Road, Faversham & Sheldwich & Lees Court Road, Sheldwich, on or after 5th August 2024, with estimated completion by 27th September 2024, or until the works have been completed.

Works Schedule

A251 Ashford Road, Faversham & Sheldwich

The road will be closed in phases between M2 J6 and Dayton Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling north is via A251 Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, Maidstone Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Ashford Road, Thanington Road, A2 Canterbury/Boughton bypass, Brenley Corner Roundabout, A2 London Road, Canterbury Road and A251 Ashford Road.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling south is via A251 Ashford Road, A2 Canterbury Road, London Road, Brenley Corner Roundabout, A2 Boughton/Canterbury bypass, A2050 Harbledown bypass, Rheims Way, St Peters Roundabout, Rheims Way, A28 Wincheap Green, Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Canterbury Road, A252 Maidstone Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Faversham Road.

Temporary traffic lights will be required on A251 Ashford Road, Faversham at the junction with M2 J6 Coastbound off/on-slip from the 5th August to begin the works.

Lees Court Road, Sheldwich

The road will be closed between A251 Ashford Road and Amos Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Lees Court Road, Dayton Road then the main diversion route.

The following side roads will be closed at the junctions with the A251 to facilitate the works:-

•   Salters Lane, Selling

•   Porters Lane, Ospringe

•   Plumford Lane, Throwley

•   Newhouse Lane, Sheldwich

•   Old Baggins Road, Throwley

 

Adelaide Drive, Sittingbourne, ME10 1XX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow pedestrian island improvements to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Adelaide Drive, Sittingbourne, on or after 19th August 2024, for up to 16 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A2 London Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A2 London Road, Borden Lane, and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Crown Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 2AD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow replacement pole works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Crown Road, Sittingbourne, on or after 6th August 2024, with estimated completion by 7th August 2024, between the hours of 09.00 and 17.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Beechwood Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Crown Road, Milton High Street, North Street, Saffron Way, Mill Way, B2006 St. Pauls Street, Crown Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Homewood Avenue & Berkeley Court, Sittingbourne.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Homewood Avenue & Berkeley Court, Sittingbourne, on or after 5th August 2024, for up to 12 days, or until the works have been completed.

Homewood Avenue will be closed at its junction with Berkeley Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Ufton Lane, Park Road, A2 West Street, A2 London Road, Borden Lane and vice versa.

Berkeley Court will be closed at its junction with Homewood Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via College Road and Homewood Avenue.

 

Queenborough Road, Halfway, ME12 3DJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow Section 278 and associated works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Queenborough Road, Halfway, on or after 5th August 2024, for up to 26 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between A2500 Lower Road and A250 Queenborough Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A250 Queenborough Road, A249 Brielle Way, A2500 Lower Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

School Lane, Bapchild, ME9 9NL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of School Lane, Bapchild, from 21st August 2024, with estimated completion by 2nd September 2024, between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A2 Fox Hill to the junction with Ashtead Drive, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A2 Fox Hill, The Street, Panteny Lane, School Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ufton Lane, Sittingbourne, ME10 1EQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow mains repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ufton Lane, Sittingbourne, on or after 19th August 2024, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of King Arthur Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Ufton Lane, Epps Road, College Road, Homewood Avenue, Ufton Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

West Street, Sittingbourne - Carnival 2024.​ (TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow the Sittingbourne Carnival to be held, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily suspend the One-Way Order on West Street, Sittingbourne from 25th August 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 14.00 and 16.00, or until the event has finished.

The One-Way Order on West Street, Sittingbourne will be suspended and the flow of traffic reversed to allow the Sittingbourne Carnival to continue it’s procession along the length of West Street between St Michaels Road and Dover Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

 

Wises Lane, Borden, ME10 1YJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2024

To allow mains laying works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wises Lane, Borden, on or after 5th August 2024, for up to 12 days, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between A2 London Road and Brier Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

GTC will be working collaboratively with Southern Water on the 5th August 2024 to carry out remedial works to the footway opposite Cherry Fields.

Access to Cherry Fields will be maintained via A2 London Road on 5th August 2024 while GTC work collaboratively under Southern Water’s closure. From 6th to 16th August 2024 access to Cherry Fields will be maintained via the official diversion route of A2 London Road, Borden Lane, The Street and Wises Lane.

Access to Grove Park Avenue will be maintained at all times from A2 London Road.

The alternative route is via A2 London Road, Borden Lane, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
