What is happening?

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 THE ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (A120 TO A133 LINK ROAD) (PHASE 1 (SOUTHERN SECTION)) (CLASSIFIED ROAD) (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2023

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that on 15 July 2024 he has confirmed, with modifications, the above Order which was made by Essex County Council under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980 and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to -

(a) improve highways;

(b) stop up highways;

(c) construct new highways; and

(d) provide new means of access to premises

all on or in the vicinity of the route of the classified road which the Council propose to construct from a point 800 metres north of the property known as Allens Farm for a distance of 2300 metres to form a junction with the A133, being the southern section of a proposed link road from the A120 and A133 roads, at Elmstead in the County of Essex.

Copies of the above-mentioned Order and associated plans may be inspected at the offices of Essex County Council, County Hall, 19 Market Road, Chelmsford, CM1 1GG; Chelmsford Library, Ground Floor, County Hall, Market Road, Chelmsford, CM1 1QH; Colchester Library, Trinity Square, Colchester, CO1 1JB; Wivenhoe Library, 104/106 High Street, Wivenhoe, CO7 9AB; Greenstead Library, Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester, CO4 3QE.

Any person aggrieved by or desiring to question the validity of any provision within the Order on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement or regulation made has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks of 25 July 2024, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision included.
