What is happening?

AUTHORITY PUBLIC PATH NOTICE BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC 584025, ASHSTEAD, WHINFELL PARISH TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS GIVEN that under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Lake District National Park Authority has made an order dated 17 July 2024. The effect of the order is to prohibit all mechanically propelled and animal-drawn vehicular traffic from proceeding over Byway Open to All Traffic 584025 at Ashstead, Whinfell, between the A6 (NY 5514 0344) and the U5279 at Ashstead (NY 5528 0233), to enable us to repair the surface and drainage. The only alternative route available for these users is via the surrounding road network.
The notice and plan showing the route concerned may be inspected during normal office or opening hours at the National Park Authority Offices, Wayfaring House Murley Moss, Oxenholme Road, Kendal, LA9 7RL; at Westmorland & Furness Council Customer Services, South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal, LA9 4DQ; and at Kendal Library, Stricklandgate, Kendal, LA9 4PY; and online at www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/rowclosures
The order will take effect on 1 August 2024 and will continue in force for six months, or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. Once works begin signs will be erected showing the closed byway. If the works have not been completed the order may be extended for a further period with the approval of the Secretary of State, though it is expected that the works will be complete during September.
