What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.6) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 22nd July 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. U5524 Ellers Brow, Skelwith Bridge - From 22nd July 2024 Approx. duration 1 day (Ref: TTROW/10904) From its junction with the A593, extending in a predominantly north westerly direction for approx. 370 m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Ellers Brow (U5524), U5525, B5343 and the A593.
2. U5526, Grasmere - From 23rd July 2024 Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/10907)
From its junction with the A591, extending in a predominantly southerly direction for its entire length.
Alternative Route: via the A591.
3. U5526, Grasmere - From 23rd July 2024 Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/10907)
From its junction with the A591 extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 80 m.
Alternative Route: via the A591.
4. U5519, Grasmere - From 25th July 2024 Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/10908)
From its junction with the A591, extending in a predominantly south westerly then south easterly direction for approx. 1.2 km.
Alternative Route: via the A591.
5. U5519, Grasmere - From 27th July 2024 Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/10909)
From its junction with Easedale Road, extending in a northerly then north easterly direction for approx. 1.1 km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5519, A591, Swan Lane, Broadgate and Easedale Road.
6. College Street, Grasmere - From 29th July 2024 Approx. duration 1 day (Ref: TTROW/10910)
From its junction with Broadgate, extending in a south easterly then south westelry direction for approx. 120 m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of College Street, Red Lion Square and Broadgate (B5287).
7. Langdale Road, Grasmere - From 30th July 2024 Approx. duration 1 day (Ref: TTROW/10924)
From its junction with Red Bank Road, extending in a northerly then north easterly direction for a distance of approx. 190 m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Langdale Road, Red Lion Square, Church Stile and Red Bank Road.
8. C5001, Ambleside - From 30th July 2024 Approx. duration 1 night between the hours of 18.00 and 23.00 (Ref: TTROW/10911)
From its junction with Rydal Road (A591), extending in an overall easterly direction along the C500I Smithy Brow and Kirkstone Road, to its junction with Edinboro.
Alternative Route for south west bound vehicles: via the unrestricted section of Kirkstone Road, The Struggle, Kirkstone Pass (A592), Patterdale Road, Ambleside Road (A59I), Lake Road, Wansfell Road, Rothay Road, Compston Road and Rydal Road.
Alternative Route for south east bound vehicles: via Rydal Road (A591), Lake Road, Ambleside Road, Patterdale Road, Kirkstone Pass (A592), The Struggle and the unrestricted section of Kirkstone Road.
9. Kirkstone Road, Ambleside - From 3Ist July 2024 Approx. duration I night between the hours of 18.00 and 23.00 (Ref: TTROW/10914)
From its junction with Oaks Field, extending in a predominantly south easterly direction to its junction with Edinboro. Alternative Route for south west bound vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Kirkstone Road (C5001), The Struggle, Kirkstone Pass (A592), Patterdale Road, Ambleside Road (A591), Lake Road, Wansfell Road, Rothay Road, Compston Road, Rydal Road and Smithy Brow.
Alternative Route for east bound vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Kirkstone Road, Smithy Brow, Rydal Road (A591), Lake Road, Ambleside Road, Patterdale Road, Kirkstone Pass (A592), and The Struggle.
10. U5057, Far Sawrey - From I7th September 2024 Approx. duration 2 days (Ref: TTROW/I09I9)
From its junction with the B5285, extending in a predominantly southerly then westerly direction to its junction with the C5028.
Alternative Route: via the C5028 and the B5285.
11. C5028, Far Sawrey - From 20th September 2024 Approx. duration 6 days (Ref: TTROW/I0923)
From its junction with the B5285, extending in a southerly then south westerly direction to its junction with the C5026.
Alternative Route: via the C5026, C5027 and the B5285.
