NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Bedford Road Kempston from Margetts Road to Bunyan Road. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate carriageway re surfacing and high friction surfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation

Phase 1 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 29th July 2024 to 21st August 2024

Phase 2 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 11th September 2024 to 19th September 2024

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Hillgrounds Road, Bedford Road.

The reverse route applies.

Please Note: Due to the nature of the work it will not be possible for emergency service vehicles to go through this prohibition. This temporary one way revocation is required to aid traffic management for the safety of the work force and public whilst improvement works are carried out on Midland Road and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL
(STAPLOE: FOOTHPATH NO 7)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the order made by Bedford Borough Council ,on 12th January 2024 the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the length of public footpath No 7 Staploe which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 1469 5968 to OS GR TL 1450 5913 has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 22 January 2025.

This temporary closure is required to install a new potable water pipeline and has been extended due to weather conditions earlier in the year resulting in work being delayed. The closure will continue from Monday 22nd July 2024 for a period of six months.

There is no alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation.

The Order will come into operation on 22nd July 2024 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near the footpath to have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL
(BOLNHURST AND KEYSOE BRIDLEWAY NO 29)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Bedford Borough Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot or on horseback or lead a horse or cycle along the length of Bridleway No 29 Bolnhurst and Keysoe which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0877 5834 GR TL 0829 5758.

This closure is required due to an out of repair bridleway bridge. The closure follows an emergency made on 26th June 2024 and will continue from Thursday 18th July 2024 for up to six months.

The alternative route for users while the closure is in operation will be to proceed from OS GR TL 0877 5834 in a north westerly direction to OS GR TL 0877 5838. Proceed in a south westerly direction to the junction with bridleway 91 and continue in a southerly direction to the junction with and vice versa. The Order will come into operation on 18th July 2024 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the bridleway has been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO EXTEND EXISTING PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN WEST END, ELSTOW

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Ward Councillors for an extension to existing parking restrictions in West End, Elstow. This is in response to concerns raised over inconsiderate parking at this location which affects visibility and safety, so these restrictions are intended to remedy that.

Effect of the Proposal:

1. To extend an existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction (double yellow lines) on the following length of road:-

A       West End, Elstow
    (i)    On its south-eastern kerb, from a point approx. 1.8 metres north-east of the projected south-western boundary of no. 12 West End (the end of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction) extending for a distance of approx. 6 metres in a north-easterly direction.

Reason for Proposal:

The requirement of a planning condition with Bedford Borough Council for the development by Linden Homes at Cardington, Shortstown, stipulated that the speed limit in Cheshire Drive and other roads should be 20mph. The proposed 20mph speed limit is intended to provide a safer road network for all highway users, including motor cyclists, pedal cyclists and pedestrians.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a 20mph zone covering the entire length of each of the following roads in Shortstown:-

Cheshire Drive
Leech Close
Gibson Place
Garland Crescent
Edwards Close
