Front Street, Temporary Road Closure Due To Manhole Cover Re-Set Works

The County Council of Durham (C184 Front Street, Chester le Street) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council on 12/7/2024 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 400 metre length of Front Street between its junctions with Station Road and North Burns/Picktree Lane traffic signals, Chester le Street to enable carriageway resurfacing and manhole cover re-set works to be undertaken.

There is no signed alternative route for vehicular traffic.

Access will be accommodated for residents under direction of the on-site traffic management operative. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 7pm on Wednesday 24/7/24 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 9 nights, to 7am each following morning (anticipated to be the nights of 24, 25 & 28-31 July and 1,4 & 5 August). On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
