Cumberland, Multiple Roads, Consolidation And Provision Of Speed Limits
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH CUMBERLAND AREA) (CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20><
1. Cumberland Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The effect of the proposed Order will be to: -
(a) Consolidate and amend the provisions of The County of Cumbria (Various Roads in the Borough of Copeland) (Consolidation and Provision of Speed Limits) Order 2020; by the following:
(b) Introduce a 30 mph speed limit on the following roads (a reduction from the national speed limit) : -
Unadopted road, U4006, U2186, U4531 The Avenue and U4459 Pinewoods, Gilgarran;
U4009 Gallows Lonning, Low Moresby - from Lane Croft to Rosehill;
U4011 Victoria Road and U4010 Quality Corner, Whitehaven;
Round Close Park, Whitehaven; Red Lonning, Whitehaven;
(part) U4022 Whelpside, Hensingham, Whitehaven; High Road, Kells;
U4030 and C4002 Woodend; (part) U4072 and U4073 Silecroft to Silecroft Beach;
C4026, U4059, U4060 and U4410 Eskdale Green; U4054 Shore Road, Drigg;
(part) A595 Bootle; (part) C4027 Bootle
(c) Extend the existing 30 mph on:-
the C4006 Pica by 85m in a westerly direction; Shore Road, Drigg (over the level crossing); and Pasture Road, Rowrah
(d) Introduce a 40 mph speed limit on the following roads (a reduction from the national speed limit) : - (part) U4022 Whelpside, Hensingham, Whitehaven; High Road, Kells;
C4003 Moor Row to Galemire; (part) A595 Bootle; (part) Silecroft to Silecroft Beach; A5093 Ghyll Scaur Quarry, The Hill, Millom; A595 Waberthwaite; and
U4008 U4012 and C4006 Whitehaven
(e) Extend the existing 40 mph speed limit on the A595 Calder Bridge to New Mill road;
(f) Reduce the existing 40 mph speed limit to 30 mph on the C4001 entering Lowca from the A595; and
(g) Introduce a 50 mph speed limit (a reduction from the national speed limit) on the B5344 Gosforth to Seascale road.

3. Full details of the proposed Order, together with plans showing the lengths of road concerned, and a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be: -

iii) on deposit at the offices of the undersigned; and
may otherwise be obtained by emailing trafficteam.west@cumberland.gov.uk.
4.
