Wiltshire - Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions.
What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: A) High Street (Part), Burbage; from its junction with Manor Gardens to its junction with Conifer Crest to enable Gigaclear to carry out excavation to install fibre cables, backfill and reinstatement. Alternative route via High Street (unaffected length) - A346 - Ram Alley Lane -Savernake Road - High Street (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 August 2024 and the closure will be required until 02 September 2024. For further information please contact Gigaclear on 01488 73393. B) C6 (Part), Ramsbury; from its junction with C190 for a distance of approximately 740m in a south westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out safe access to carriageway boxes to restore service for customers. Alternative route via C6 (unaffected length) - Coldharbour Road - North View Place - A346 - C189 - B4192 - C188 - C6 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 09 August 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. C) Rope Yard (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 80m in a north westerly direction to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out gas mains replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via Rope Yard (unaffected length) - Church Street - Wood Street - High Street and vice versa. D) A4 Bath Road (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Rowden Hill for a distance of approximately 200m in a south westerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out installation of approximately 130m of ducting and new HV cable and associated works. Alternative route via A4 (unaffected length) - A350 - A420 - A4 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 August 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 20:00 and 07:15 until 17 August 2024. F) C247 (Part), Heddington and Calne Without; from its junction with Heddington to its junction with Stockley Hollow to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out verge overrun works and other associated works. Alternative route via Heddington - C247 (unaffected length) - C252 - C251 - C247 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 August 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 for 5 days. G) Park Road (Part), Malmesbury; from its junction with Gloucester Road to its junction with Willow View Close to enable Wessex Water to carry out interim to permanent reinstatement and associated works. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: H) C118 (Part), Calne Without and Calne; from outside its property known as Fishers Brook House to its junction with A3102 to enable Openreach to carry out works to remove a pole, install a new pole and other associated works. Alternative route via A3102 - A4 - C113 - Wick Hill from Maude Heaths Causeway North East to Turf House Lane - Turf House Lane - C118 (unaffected length) and vice versa. I) Parkside (Part), Chippenham; from outside its property known as No.07 Parkside to outside its property known as No.08 Parkside to enable Openreach to carry out ducting installation in carriageway, footway and associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 19 July 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. J) C249, Devizes; from its junction with A342 to its junction with A361 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway reactive patching work and other associated works. Alternative route via A361 - A342 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 18 July 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 2 days. K) Bowds Lane, Brinkworth and Tockenham; from its junction with C120 to its junction with A3102 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out verge overrun works and other associated works. Alternative route via A3102 - C120 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 July 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 for 5 days. L) High Street (Part), Ogbourne St George; from its property known as The Elms for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out short service pipe relay including fitting carriageway. Alternative route via Chiseldon Road - Draycot Lane - The Ridgeway - Marlborough Road -Thamesdown Boundary Near Chiseldon Camp South East To High Brow Ogbourne St George A346 - High Street Brow - Main Road Ogbourne St Andrew North East Around Ogbourne St George To Copse Drove - A346 North East To Bottom Lane - High Street (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 July 2024 and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Thames Water on 07747 648554. M) Roundway by Phone Box North then North West to Car Park (Part), Devizes: from a point approximately 250m north of its junction with C249 for a distance of approximately 200m in a north westerly direction to enable National Grid to carry out work to install belllmouths, plant crossing install and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order which previously came into operation on 06 May 2024 will now recommence on 15 July 2024 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 until 19 July 2024. For further information please contact National Grid on 0800 096 3080. Orders A) to L) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order M) has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 to amend the following restrictions in the Calne Consolidation Order 2021 by revoking Map Schedule No DE55 dated 05/04/2021 and replacing it by the insertion of revised Map Schedule No DE55 the effect of which will be as follows: To introduce No waiting at any time on the following lengths of road: A4 London Road - east side - from a point 26 metres north west of its junction with Wessington Court to a point 49 metres south east of that junction; from a point 26 metres east of the midpoint of the junction of Churchview to a point 36 metres east of that junction; from the midpoint of the junction of Churchview to a point 14 metres west of that junction; Wessington Court - both sides - from its junction with A4 London Road to a point 6 metres north east of that junction. To introduce Bus stop clearways on A4 London Road - east side - from the midpoint of the Churchview junction to a point 26 metres south east of that junction. London Road - west side - from a point 22 metres south east of the midpoint of the Churchview junction for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.
Deposit copies of the Order, plan and Statement of the Council's Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours. Details of the proposed scheme may be seen at Calne Library, The Strand, Calne during the hours 10am - 7pm Monday, 9.30am - 5pm Tuesday and Thursday, 9.30am - 7pm Friday and 9.30am - 4pm Saturday until 5 August 2024.
