York Road - Restricted Parking Zone Extention, Disabled Bay (2006 Consolidtion Amendment)

LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL THE LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL (YORK ROAD, LEICESTER) (RESTRICTED PARKING ZONE EXTENTION, DISABLED BAY) (2006 CONSOLIDTION AMENDMENT) (No.###) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN Leicester City Council (“the Council”) proposes to make an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 5, 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to makes the following Order:-
The effects of the Order to this Notice, will be to introduce a new disabled bay and extend the existing Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) on the following length(s) of road(s):
1. To introduce a second disabled bay with a maximum stay of 3 hours and a No return within 3 hours, the bay will be operational at all times on all days on the following length of road: -
York Road, North side; 21 metres east of Oxford St in an easterly direction for 12 metres.
2. To amend the existing Restricted Parking Zone (Except in signed bays) which prohibits both waiting and loading at all time on all days, by extending the zone to include the following section of road: -
York Road, both sides; between the exit point of the Multistorey car park up to the junction with Welford Road.
3. To revoke certain existing Prohibitions and Restriction.
A COPY of the proposed Order, the relevant plan, the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order and extract copies of the Order being amended may be seen at Leicester City Council’s website: leicester.gov. uk/trafficregulationorders
OBJECTIONS to the proposed Order should be email TROteam@leicester.gov.uk and marked for the attention of York Road. Any objections stating grounds on which they are made and quoting ref. No. (York Road - Amendment) must be received by the 5 day of August 2024.
The proposed introduction of a secondary disabled bay will provide additional facilities for users of the nearby temple, along with local businesses. The proposed extension of the RPZ will reduce sign clutter in this area, whilst maintaining the consistency of the parking restrictions on this road.
There would be no longer the requirement to paint road markings (double yellow lines and kerb bars) thus reducing the cost of maintenance.
