What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 11* day of July 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) & (6). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13) & (14).
(1) MILLFIELD LANE LEVEL CROSSING. POPPLETON
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through that length of road at Millfield Lane Level Crossing, Poppleton (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Sunday, 14 July 2024 and ending at 0700hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period. Vehicles will be allowed to use the bus gate between Millfield Lane and Low Poppleton Lane, for ingress and egress, without risk of enforcement action, for the works duration only.
(2) WHELDRAKE LANE. YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wheldrake Lane, York between the junction with the entrance drive of Oak Tree Farm and a location 816 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 and ending at 1530hrs on Thursday, 18 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Skipwith Road, A19, Wheldrake Lane, Crockey Hill Road.
(3) MILL LANE. ACASTER MALBIS
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Mill Lane, Acaster Malbis between its junction with Tyn Garth and a location 61 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Wednesday, 17 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Darling Lane, Broad Lane, Intake Lane.
(4) TOWTHORPE MOOR LANE. STRENSALL
This Order restricts vehicles to a 30 miles per hour (mph) speed limit in that length of road on Towthorpe Moor Lane, Strensall between its junction with Strensall Road and a location 550 metres east of said junction (restricted road) during the period when drainage repair works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Thursday, 25 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. Additionally, vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Towthorpe Moor Lane, Strensall between its junction with Strensall Road and a location 550 metres east of said junction (closed road) during the period commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 18 July 2024. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.
(5) COMMON LANE & LONG LANE. HESLINGTON
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Common Lane & Long Lane, Heslington (i) on Common Lane between its junctions with The Outgang and Long Lane and (ii) on Long Lane between its junction with Common Lane and a location 10 metres south-east of the junction with Holme Hill Lane (closed roads) during the period when surface dressing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 26 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works however access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.
(6) CLIFTON INGS NATIONAL CYCLE NETWORK ROUTE NO 65 (CONTINUATION). YORK
This Order continues in force The York (Clifton Ings National Cycle Network Route No 65) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2024 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycleway on Clifton Ings National Cycle Network Route No 65, York between its junction with Public Right Of Way 26/4/10 and the junction with Public Right Of Way 27/1/10 (closed cycleway) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Wednesday, 17 July 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 31 December 2025 (works period) or on a date when flood defence works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted cyclists and pedestrians will be signed during the works period.
(7) HULL ROAD. YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of central reservation traffic lane on Hull Road, York between a point 75 metres east of the projected western kerbline of Pinelands Way and a point 30 metres west of the said kerbline (closed traffic lane) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 22 July 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Monday, 22 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.
(8) YORK ROAD. STRENSALL
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on York Road, Strensall between its junction with Station Square and a location 60 metres south of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 July 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Thursday, 25 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0915hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Ox Carr Lane, Flaxton Road, Lords Moor Lane, The Village.
(9) WHELDRAKE LANE. WHELDRAKE
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Wheldrake Lane, Wheldrake between its junction with Main Street and a location 1865 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 22 July 2024 and ending at 1530hrs on Friday, 26 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Crockey Hill Road, Wheldrake Lane, A19, Skipwith Road.
(10) FOOTPATH FROM YORK ROAD TO HIGHLANDS AVENUE. STRENSALL
This Order will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath between York Road & Highlands Avenue, Strensall (closed footpath) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 July 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Thursday, 01 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works.
(11) ST SAMPSONS SQUARE. YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on St Sampsons Square, York between its junction with Davygate and a location 38 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Wednesday, 24 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow on St Sampsons Square between the junction with Church Street and a location 29 metres north-west of said junction is suspended to allow for twcnway traffic flow in the said road for the works period only.
(12) FULFORD CROSS. YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Fulford Cross, York between the projected western boundary of property No.1 and the projected western boundary of York Steiner School (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 23 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, all vehicles and pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath between Fulford Cross and Danesmead Close (closed footpath). It is envisaged that the road and footpath will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Danesmead Close, Broadway West, Fulford Road.
(13) TANG HALL LANE & FIFTH AVENUE. YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Tang Hall Lane & Fifth Avenue, York (i) on Tang Hall Lane between its junction with Appleby Place and a location 105 metres southeast of said junction and (ii) on Fifth Avenue between locations 21 metres east and west of its junction with Tang Hall Lane (closed roads) during the period when junction repair works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 03 September 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Whernside Avenue, Bad Bargain Lane, Rockingham Avenue, Melrosegate, Hull Road. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
(14) CYCLE ROUTE NEW LANE TO KATHRYN AVENUE. YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of cycleway on Cycle Route New Lane To Kathryn Avenue, York between its junction with New Lane and a location 307 metres east of said junction (closed cycleway) during the period when resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Wednesday, 24 July 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 25 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the cycle route will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Martello Way, Malton Road, New Lane.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns.
