M4 And M5 Motorways - Impose A Mandatory 40 Mph Speed Limit

THE M4 AND M5 MOTORWAYS (ALMONDSBURY)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) has made an Order on the M4 and M5 Motorways in South Gloucestershire because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to damaged road surface.
The restrictions are expected to be in place from 16 July 2024 until the likelihood of danger has ended.
The effect of the Order will be to impose a mandatory 40 mph speed limit on:
(a) the link road from the M4 eastbound to the M5 southbound from a point 85 metres east of the diverge from the M5 Junction 20 eastbound exit slip road to a point 95 metres north of the merge with the M5 Junction 20 southbound entry slip road;
(b) the link road from the M4 westbound to the M5 northbound from a point 110 metres west of the diverge from the M4 Junction 20 westbound exit slip road to a point 120 metres south of the merge with the M5 northbound entry slip road.
The speed limit (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles), will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.
The Order will come into force on 14 July 2024 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
