Reading - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions.
What is happening?
READING BOROUGH COUNCIL
(SEND ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close Send Road and suspend the parking bays and introduction of no stopping/loading at any time along each of the following lengths of road:
• From approximately 30 metres south of junction with Gosbrook Road to approximately 50 metres south of junction with Gosbrook Road from 22-28 July 2024.
• From approximately 40 metres south of junction with Gosbrook Road to approximately 60 metres south of junction with Gosbrook Road from 29 July-4 August 2024.
The Order will come into force on the dates listed above. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary for the excavation and connections of foul, surface and new water connections, and main connections from the development to mains set within the carriageway. A signed diversion will be in place throughout.
(PROSPECT STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily introduce the following restrictions:
• Close Prospect Street at its junction with Oxford Road to all vehicular traffic.
• Suspend the loading bay between 183 to 183a Oxford Road and introduce a no waiting and no loading at any time restriction.
• Suspend the loading of the bus/taxi/cycle lane on Oxford Road junction with Bedford Road.
The Order will come into force on 12 July – 31 August 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is required by the Secretary of State. The Order is necessary to carry out the removal of the speed ramp and installation of traffic islands.
(MITCHAM CLOSE) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily impose a no waiting and/or loading at any time restriction and suspend:
• Three parking bays outside 31 Milman Road
• Two parking bays at the side of 27b Milman Road along Mitcham Close
• Three parking bays outside 50 Milman Road (Doctors Surgery)
• Five parking bays outside 40-34 Milman Road.
The Order will come into force from 22 July – 12 August 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate sewer repairs to the collapsing pipework.
(RADSTOCK ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:
• Suspend the one-way restriction and close Radstock Road at its junction with Manchester Road and Liverpool Road.
• Suspend the parking bays and impose a no waiting and/or loading at any time restriction outside numbers 70-90 and 75-93 Radstock Road.
The Order will come into force on 25 July 2024 only from 09:30-15:30 hours. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow works to replace a pole. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
(WHITLEY WOOD LANE) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close that length of Whitley Wood Lane from approximately 10 metres at each side of number 198a. The Order will come into force from 22-26 July 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the closure will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate the installation of high voltage cable. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
(RUSSELL STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close Russell Street at its junction with Tilehurst Road, northbound. If made, the Order will come into force from 31 July - 3 August 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the closure will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow works to repair the trunk main. A signed diversion will be in place throughout.
(FOREST DEAN) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close that length of road Forest Dean at its junction with Whitley Wood Lane. If made, the Order will come into force from 29-31 July 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the closure will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow works to clear block ducts. Resident and emergency access will be maintained.
(OXFORD ROAD AND CONNAUGHT ROAD)
(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays and impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction along each of the following lengths of road:
• Oxford Road – outside numbers 284, 292, 296-300 and the loading bay outside numbers 262-264 inclusive.
• Connaught Road – loading bay outside Connaught House and the 4 bays opposite.
If made, the Order will come into force from 31 July - 1 August 2024 between 23:00-05:00 hours. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow works to desilt existing ducting.
(MILESTONE WAY FOOTPATH 22 READING)
(TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The effect of the Order is to close section of Footpath No.22 Milestone Way, Reading from the side of number 4 Aldenham Close to Governor/Northbrook Road. The purpose of the closure is to allow gas mains replacement works and it is necessary in the interest of public safety. A signed pedestrian diversion route will be in place throughout. If made, the Order will come into operation on 29 July 2024 and will continue in force for a period of 6 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by the 9 September 2024 unless a direction is given under Section 15(5) of the 1984 Act.
(MINSTER STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close that length of Minster Street at the rear of Primark and suspend the one-way restriction along Minster Street and Gun Street. If made, the Order will come into force from 28-29 July 2024 from 15:00-01:00 hours. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate the placement of a crane on the highway. A signed diversion will be in place throughout and access will be maintained.
