What is happening?

DORSET COUNCIL

Temporary Closure Of London Road, Dorchester - (Night Works)

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along LONDON ROAD, DORCHESTER, between its junctions with Kings Road and High Street, Fordington, a distance of approximately 450 metres. The order is needed to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.

It will come into operation on 19 July 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 24 July 2024. Please note the works will take place between 2000hrs and 0500hrs.

This Order will enable RMS & WJ Lining safe access to carry out asphalt preservation and lining works.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: Kings Road - Icen Way - South Walks Road - Great Western Road - Damers Road - Williams Avenue - Bridport Road - High West Street - High East Street.

JAN BRITTON, Executive Lead for Place - Dorset Council, County Hall, Dorchester DT1 1XJ. Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
