What is happening?

WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING

(WANTAGE ROAD (A338), HUNGERFORD)
(TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 30mph in any direction over Wantage Road (A338) in the Parish of Hungerford between its junction with Bath Road (A4) and its junction with New Hayward Bottom. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for BT to carry out cabling works along this route. The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th July 2024. It is envisaged that the restrictions will be in place between 8th and 31st July 2024.

(MANOR LANE AND OLD STREET, HERMITAGE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Manor Lane and Old Street in Hermitage between its junction with Hampstead Norreys Road and its junction with Priors Court Road. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Hampstead Norreys Road, High Street, Newbury Road, Priors Court Road and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Openreach safe access to lay duct and install JF4. The proposed Order will come into effect on 9th July 2024. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 09:30 and 15:30 hours each day from 9th to 18th July 2024.

(UNNAMED ROAD FROM GARDENERS LANE
TO BUCKHOLD FARM, PANGBOURNE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2024
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Unnamed Road from Gardeners Lane to Buckhold Farm in Pangbourne between its junction with Unnamed Road from Buckhold Hill to Ashampstead Road and its junction with Gardeners Lane. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Gardeners Lane, Buckhold Hill, Unnamed Road from Buckhold Hill
to Ashampstead Road and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Gigaclear to clear blockages in verge and carriageway. The proposed Order will come into effect on 5th July 2024. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 8th and 12th July 2024.

Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
