What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, CANTERBURY) (SPEED LIMITS)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2023
(AMENDMENT No.15) ORDER 2024

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL hereby propose to make the above named Order under sections under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act:

The effect of the Order will be to change the existing 30moh speed limit and implement a 20MPH speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Littlebourne, Canterbury:

CHERRY ORCHARD, CHURCH ROAD, COURT MEADOWS, ELMLEIGH ROAD, JUBILEE ROAD, THE ELDERS and ST VINCENTS CLOSE – For their entire length. BEKESBOURNE LANE – From its junction with High Street to a point 71 metres southwest of its junction with School Path. COURT HILL – From its junction with Church Hill to the northwestern boundary of Malt House. NARGATE STREET – From its junction with High Street to the southern boundary of 87 Nargate Street.

FOLKESTONE & HYTHE AREA

(SPEED LIMITS) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2020
(AMENDMENT No.7) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL, acting as Local Traffic Authority and in exercise of its powers under sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (hereinafter referred to as the Act) and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to make the following order.

The effect of the order would be to reduce the current speed limit to 30MPH on the following lengths of roads in Lyminge, Folkestone and Hythe:-

BROAD STREET – From a point 10 metres south of its junction with Greenbanks for a distance of 96 metres in a southerly direction.

(AMENDMENT No.29) ORDER 2024

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL under sections 1(1), 2 (1) to (3), 3 (2), 4 (1) and (2), 32 (1), 35 (1), 44, 45, 46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter called “the Act”) and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby proposes to make the following order:-

The effect of the proposed named Order will be to place double yellow lines (DYL) waiting restrictions on the following lengths of roads in Lyminge, Folkestone and Hythe:-

BROAD STREET – DYL – (1) On the east side from a point 42 metres south of its junction with Greenbanks for a distance of 44 metres in a southerly direction (including into the junction of the private road to the new estate).

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby proposes to make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to extend the 20MPH speed limit zone in Bredhurst, Maidstone on the following length of roads:-

CHAPEL LANE, FIR TREE GROVE and HURSTWOOD ROAD – For their entire length.

TONBRIDGE & MALLING AREA

(VARIOUS ROADS) (BOROUGH OF TONBRIDGE AND MALLING)
(VARIOUS TRAFFIC MOVEMENTS) (CONSOLIDATION)
(AMENDMENT No.1) ORDER 2024

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make the above Order under sections 1(1), 2 (1) to (3), 3, 4, 19, 65(1), 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ( “the Act”) as amended and all other enabling powers, and having regard to Section 122 of the Act, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following order:-

The effect of the made named Order will be as below on the following length of roads in Tonbridge in the Borough of Tonbridge & Malling:-

No Entry Except Buses and Access on LOWER HAYSDEN LANE (East Junction) – From a point 70 metres west of its junction with Upper Haysden Lane/Brook Street and to that junction.

Remove the one way system on LOWER HAYSDEN LANE (West Junction) – From its junction with Upper Haysden Lane for a distance of 30 metres in a northerly direction.

These orders where originally advertised as Lower Haysden Lane Prohibition of Traffic Movements and as a One-Way Traffic Order but due to the recent consolidation order they have been renamed as above.

The Order was made on 18 July 2024 and its provisions will come into effect on 19 July 2024.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
