Oxford, Five Mile Drive
Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 29/07/2024
Coming into force: 05/08/2024
This Order is being introduced because of gas main replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 18 October 2024 in two phases. This is a 24 hour road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in lengths of Five Mile Drive as follows:
Phase 1 – Junction with Banbury Road – 5 to 16 August.
Phase 2 – o/s No.84 Five Mile Drive to junction with Wolvercote Roundabout – 7 to 18 October. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Banbury Road (A4165), Sunderland Avenue (A40), Wolvercote Roundabout, Five Mile Drive and vice versa.
This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T13776/AC)
