Portland Road, Temporary Road Closure Due To Electrical Works
What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER - PORTLAND ROAD, HOVE
1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect-
(a) The temporary Eastbound closure of Portland Road, Hove from its junction with Ingram Crescent West to its junction with Shelley Road.
(b) During the Eastbound closure of Portland Road, Hove it will be necessary to close the following side roads, at their junction with Portland Road; Bolsover Road, Grange Road, Scott Road, Tamworth Road, and Shelley Road.
(c) During the Eastbound closure of Portland Road, it will be necessary to ban the right turns out of the following side roads, at their junction with Portland Road; Mansfield Road, Portland Avenue, Woodhouse Road, Coleman Avenue, St Heliers Avenue, Hogarth Road, Reynolds Road, Titan Road, Raphael Road, and Modena Road.
2. The Order is necessary to allow contractors to install new High Voltage electricity cables in the carriageway, footway and verge.
3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic.
4. This Order comes into force on 22 July 2024 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 2 September 2024.
