What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(LECKONBY STREET & CHESHAM STREET, GREAT ECCLESTON, WYRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the Borough of Wyre
i. Leckonby Street from its junction with South Street to its junction with High Street.
ii. Chesham Street from its junction with Leckonby Street for approximately 30 metres in an easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this Order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibitions will be operative from 0930 hours to 1530 hours from Wednesday 17th July 2024 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:
High Street – Chapel Street – South Street
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow fibre overhead cabling works to be carried out by BT Openreach.
