What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (BROWNE ROAD) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to at times temporarily prohibit all vehicles, cyclists, horse riders and pedestrians from Browne Road from its junction with Law Street to its junction with Dene Street An alternative route will be provided. The Order is required because carriageway repair works are to be undertaken on or near the highway. The Order will come into operation on 12th August 2024. The maximum duration of the closure under this Order will be eighteen months and it is anticipated that the works will take two weeks. All users of the highways (except for personnel employed in the works) will be prohibited from Browne Road from its junction with Law Street to its junction with Dene Street until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.
